Shipquay Gate is one of the original four city gates built in the town's surrounding walls. The present archway dates from 1805.

This is one of the four historic gates of Derry. To walk around the walls and walk through this, and the other gates, is to soak up so much of the events of 'yesteryear'.

This is one of the four original gates into the walled city. The area outside is on landfill so originally ships came up to the gat bringing people from the hill on the other side

As you leave Peace Bridge towards Guidhall, teh Shipquay Gate becomes your 1st impression of the Walled City. Easy to access just to the side, climb up and take a walk, you'll love it.

Lovely shops and bars especially Jamms for Coffee & food and clothes in the Richmond Centre, however, very steep for walking, get your flat shoes on !!

Always sure to get a great drink and food at different restaurants on this street. Plus there is an entrance to Richmond half way up the street.

We spent some time in this whole area and it is well worth just appreciating the architecture, old and new and the deep history.

Beautiful piece of history located right downtown. Connects the walk way on top where you can walk along and see many memorials and monuments.

Excellent photo opportunity - just mind the traffic, interesting historically and architecturally, and a good starting point for a walk around the city centre. It's an iconic feature and you shouldn't miss it ...in fact you can't miss it, really, on your walkabout.
