This mural is so moving. It depicts an innocent school girl who was shot by the British soldiers during the 'Troubles' in Derry. Such a waste!

The Republican, or Unionist, murals are interesting, although not as emotional or powerful as the nationalist murals. However, if viewing one side, you will want to view the other, and they are interesting.

From the city walls, the Bogside murals were clearly visible in relation to each other. Several featured activist MP Bernadette Devlin – one of here as a girl in a school uniform with a butterfly fluttering above her head, another of her speaking through a...More

Stark reminder of the troubles. Can be viewed on foot and looks as though they are illuminated at night. If you visit Derry - well worth taking time out to view these murals.

The Murals are a complete work of art, this mural of the young schoolgirl represents this child as a young person sent out by her Mother to get some messages in a local shop, but sadly a trigger happy soldier shot her as she was...More

This particular mural has great significance for the people of Derry/Londonderry as the butterfly to the top left of the little girl, who was accidentally shot during the Troubles, was originally painted in dark colours. The artist returned to paint the butterfly in bright colours...More

Seen only from Londonderry's City Wall. Perhaps a "one-sided" depiction of the Bogside area of the city - but attempts a more peaceful interpretation of a more peaceful era - today.

Be sure to read the information placed next to the mural because it tells the story in the mural: a young girl caught in the violence of The Troubles killed when she was out gathering some items for a school project. The plaque also explains...More
