May is definitely the month to visit Rowallane. We had been promising ourselves a visit here for years and were not disappointed. The rhododendrons were mostly in full bloom in an array of colours. There were also bluebells everywhere, brightening up the woodland and meadows....More

This National Trust garden is famed for its rhododendrons but also has many other interesting trees and plants. The walks around are lovely and the garners and volunteers keep it to a very high standard. Today I visited and the stolen stone lions were being...More

We went here for a walk with our 3 1/2 yr old and a pushchair with baby. There was a trail for the children- a wrist band to attach nature trail objects to- lovely idea. The gardens are smaller than most NT places but a...More

The annual Ghosts and Gourds weekend brought the usual thousands of visitors with their children for an enjoyable day out. As the colour slowly fades in the garden, and it prepares to go to sleep for the winter, the gardeners set out the annual ghost...More

BBQ, no, I'm afraid but there's lots of places to picnic. Tables are in the court yard and behind the main house. There's also a very welcoming café with home cooked food.
