A very enjoyable stop. We got to see where St Patrick is buried but also a church warden shared with us some of the history of Patrick and the church itself.

It’s really amazing that this isn’t more popular. This cathedral (church of Ireland, vice Catholic) has the grave of Sts Patrick, Brigid, and Colmcille (Columba) in the grave yard. The cathedral itself is nice enough, but the grave of three of the most influential saints of Ireland is the real draw. Even in a windy rainstorm the family made our pilgrimage.

Interesting site of pilgrimage with historical crosses and graves of the three national saints of Ireland. Worth a visit for 30 minutes to an hour.

Saint Patrick's grave is a must visit. Myself and my son Hugo said a prayer of thanks over Patrick's grave. He pretty much made Ireland.

This cathedral is quite small - neat and tidy. The main point of interest for many people may be St Patrick's (supposed) grave. This is marked by a very unassuming lumped stone.

We visited this attraction during a 3-day tour of Northern Ireland with Rabbies in May 2019. Sorry for the delayed review.

Our visit included the cathedral, some monastery ruins, and the Gaol museum. The museum is worth a quick walk through and from the adjoining restaurant you can look out over the Down Bump and an old hill fort. Next to the entrance to the cathedral is supposed to be the grave of St. Patrick which has a large slab with a Christian carving on it. Of course, there are a lot of places in Ireland that claim to be the site of St. Patrick's burial, but I take this location has some support.

We also had lunch in the Gaol museum restaurant, and ate sandwiches and stew with beer and coffees. It was quite good.

We visited Down Cathedral as its where St Patrick's grave is and St Brigit and St Columba are also buried here.I was expecting this site to be much more then it is.I think it does not do show how big part St Patrick played in Irish history. We were there around 8 pm and there was no one else around. So it was very peaceful.

This is a pretty cathedral with a very helpful docent who will explain all sorts of things about the carvings, the windows and the art. Free to get in and near to Patrick’s grave and other Downpatrick attractions.
