My mum and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Ulster Historical Foundation's June 2016 family history conference! A great deal of planning obviously went into organizing the event, which ran like clockwork - and our historians / researchers were so helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They REALLY know their stuff and helped us find things in the archives that... More

Just home from a fantastic September conference in Northern Ireland with the Ulster Historical Foundation. A great team who organised things seemingly effortlessly, who looked after us all and gave us heaps of information and time to spend researching at PRONI. I didn't spend as much time at PRONI as I shoulld have because I wanted to go on the... More

Great for genealogists and less interested spouses. The Foundation staff worked hard with the researchers to make the time at PRONI and Dublin record offices well worthwhile. Staff on the daily tours for those not researching provided excellent interesting historical commentary of the "sights". Great lunches and dinners arranged at various venues. Access to several private locations added to making... More

Highly Recommended for genealogists and touring. Two of us Just completed the fall 2016 Family History Conference given by the Ulster History Foundation. It is an incredibly full and enriching program. The genealogy research portion provides excellent help and guidance in the modern and well outfitted PRONI. The accompanying daytime tours were superb, visiting sites from the prehistoric (Knowth) to... More

I attended the June conference and had a wonderful experience. The staff was wonderful, help was abundant, locations were awe-inspiring, and my fellow researchers were a fun-loving, lively group from all over the world. I learned almost as much from talking with them as with the staff. I definitely would do it again.

This was one of the best organized events I have attended! The conference was fun, and I learned a lot about the people, history, and structure of not just Ulster, but all of Ireland. Logistically, the staff have it down. Everything works on time, and in a pleasant, helpful way. Presenters and staff are knowledgeable, and committed to helping everyone... More

If you're wondering whether to engage UHF's services or attend one of their conferences I can assure you that you'll experience absolute quality. I attended the June 2016 UHF conference and to sum it up - I attended a genealogy holiday. If you want to: meet like-minded people, have professional research assistance, eat really well, enjoy field trips that will... More

This is a long established research service. They write books on the history that can be purchased there or through other sources. My clients have had very mixed reviews of their services and my experience with them has been less than stellar. There are a lot of researchers out there to chose from. While I think the school is helpful... More

Attended their Belfast summer school and found it very helpful. Staff and invited speakers were cordial and informative. Staff remained with participants on days we spent at PRONI patiently guiding us through a maze of documents and microfilm.

This is a very professional organization run by history experts. It publishes resources, has an excellent website and also will do research for you. It is a great resources for people doing genealogy of Ulster families, and the Scots-Irish. It also conducts week long classes/tour groups.
