A well appointed building with a plaza outside, which sadly looks like it's all closed up. The steps has a brass sculpture of "The Speaker" with a few brass footprints on the ground. A blue plaque memorialises Anthony Trollope working there at one point.

The Custom House building in Belfast would have been an important building in the past with records needing to be kept of boats arriving and setting sail for distant places. The building is not far from the riverside. If you are a fan of grand buildings it's worth checking out.

Belfast is an ever changing city and is now currently enjoying a cultural boom, mainly along the river bank. The Customs house is a fantastic piece of architecture, unchanging, unmoved by the commotion around it. It is this commotion that has created Customs House Square, a new meeting centre for locals and tourists alike. The area has been totally re-modelled with fountains being installed beside the Albert Clock and an expanse of openness not normally seen in Belfast, encouraging one to relax The river Balckstaff runs underneath the Square and it has been incorporated into the design with the water features to highlight its importance in the history of the city.
Ok, so it’s not really a day trip, nor is it likely to be your only reason to visit Belfast but start here on your day around the Lagan, visit the weir, St Georges Market and the new trails along the riverbank to discover an altogether more relaxed, more enjoyable city.

Visited for the SLF / Stranglers gig. Great area for an outside venue. Sold out gig but plenty of room. Bars and toilets were busy as expected but we had a cracking time. Also loved Belfast.

Attended the SLF event on 26/08 and was very impressed with the setup.

High stage with a few raised sections, for a sold out event it never felt over crowded, easy to move around. Great sound. Bars were busy but didn't take too long to get served, entrance was opened on time and security were fast in getting everyone in. Plenty of toilets also.

Didn't have any downsides for this particular event.

The Customs House of Belfast stands opposite the Lagan Weir and The Big Fish Sculpture. The building is closed to the public, but even from the outside, it's a magnificent and elegant building in the Italianate style.

The front of the building contains a bronze statue of a man talking to an empty crowd as a reminder that the Custom House steps were once a speakers' corner. On the waterfront side, the pediment has sculptures of Britannia, Neptune and Mercury.

Definitely worth a look if in Belfast especially as many of the landmarks of Belfast are in this area.

The customs house is a stunning building that is sadly let down by the run down buildings around it! Still you have to admire what a stunning building the customs house is and its history etc.

Magnificent old building oozing history. Located near the fountain and waterfront and worth including in your downtown wanderings.

Nice to walk around and in the same square as Albert Memorial clock tower. Some plaques around to provide some information and history. The Salmon of knowledge and the water front are also close by.
