a really enjoyable hour of wandering through a really interesting old graveyard while our guide "brought to life" excuse the pun - the lives of so many interesting people who are buried here. The guide had such a depth of knowledge of dates - events and put these into context as he moved between the various graves - his stories were so interesting, without being in any way disrepectful of the surroundings. He was able to touch on so many important parts of the history of Belfast and Ireland in such a way as to want you to find out more - a very skilled guide.

I am have mobility issues and was able to use my rollator throughout the tour. Tour was booked for 3pm and started on time. Was a very pleasant day - no rain and temperature was comfortable. Our guide was Gretta and I must say that all the folk in the group remarked how knowledgeable Gretta was, she was able to hold the attention of the group by telling us all about the various plots in the graveyard from the richest Belfast merchants with their crypts and inscribed headstones, to the mass grave of those unfortunates who died from various illnesses, the poor, and those that had no relatives - some of these people came from the poor house, some from the workhouse, and some were dumped at the gate. Thanks Gretta for ensuring that we had an afternoon of local history.

Did the tour of Clifton Street Graveyard today. In spite of the rain, it was fabulous! Paul, the guide was so knowledgeable and presented the information in a very engaging way with a lot of humour. So much of the history of Belfast can be uncovered in this place - a must tour for locals and visitors alike.

Fabulous tour, really brought to life the history of a town I’ve lived in for a number of years. Noel our tour guide had so many stories. He was able to factually answer all our questions while entertaining with tit bits of hear say and rumour.

I have lived and worked in Belfast most of my sixty six years and am ashamed to say I did not even know this graveyard existed never mind the fact that it is now the resting place of the most famous of the United Irish men, Henry Joy McCracken. It’s a hidden gem for anyone but especially those who have an interest in the history of Belfast / Ireland and there is much to learn . If you are lucky enough to have Noel McKnight as your guide then that is an extra bonus. Enjoy

I've lived in Belfast over 20 years and have past Clifton Street Graveyard many many times with little or no insight into the incredible history which lies beyond the walls. Joe our guide was very insightful and knowledgeable and delivered the tour in a funny yet informative way, would highly recommend to both locals and tourists alike

I toured here after visiting the poor house down the hill. Such a great tour and such an atmospheric spot. Twice now I have seen a small child beside a grave and been so moved by the experience. To also learn that there is an immense famine and cholera grave, to discover

Of the history of slavery in Belfast and also learn about the united irishmen was all wonderful. I loved hearing about Mary Ann McCracken and her fight against poverty and for the people of Belfast was inspiring. What a brilliant spot, so filled with history and awe. I could cheerfully

I would say it is a very important place for the history of Belfast and whole Ireland. This is the burial place for a lot of important persons in Ireland.

Had been there about 15 years ago on the tour given by Joe Baker from the Glenravel Society.
This time I went with my Daughter. Tour was taken by Raymond O'Regan. He knows his stuff. Well worth a return visit even though I'm a bit of a history buff and know most things about the Cemetery and it's residents. If you're reading this Raymond I went and bought one of your books. Very good.
