Apparently this place was commandeered by the Royal Navy in WW2, but its a nice place to visit these days, lovely maintained gardens, and a nice café on site. Great view of Belfast from the gardens due to the elevated location.

wonderful views of the harbour and the city from the cat garden and it's fun spotting the hidden cats - antique shop in basement is an interesting diversion

Having wandered across the hill and gotten a little chilly. Swung by here on the way back for a nice warm cuppa.

Wonderful castle a few km from the city centre. I took the bus from city hall and was there in 10 minutes or so. The castle (free entry) itself is small but very grand, comes with beautiful views of the garden. There are trails behind the castle where one can take different routes encapsulating wonderful views of Belfast City. Warning... More

Start at the Castle itself, briefly inflate your lungs with the herb/spice garden. Then ascend up to Napoleon's Nose thru the wonderful wildlife - rabbits everywhere and badgers at dawn or poss dusk. Retreat to the Castle well... More
