- Carla PLondon, United Kingdom291 contributionsLovely parkVery pretty park with a lake full of bird wildlife. Keep an eye out for Canada goose! The Scott memorial is located at one end of the lake and it is very interesting and lovely. It makes a nice 5km loop run - all the way around the park (south end) and lake (north end).Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 December 2022
- KrutferdudaLa Ciotat, France123 contributionslovely quite park, beautiful lake, nice playground... especially when weather is nice!FREE parking in the street, no harassing "Pay and Display". Lovely park with a nice walking our around the lake. Well equiped playground, but may be overwhelmed on sunny days. This was my 8th or 10th visit and I was NEVER able to visit the greenhouse, always in maintenance or any other excuse... The café on the dam offers delicious pizzas, friendy service and very nice views...Visited January 2023Written 8 January 2023

Wether it’s cold and damp, or sunny and dry; it’s such a beautiful spot, that doesn’t feel like an inner city area! There’s a gorgeous little tea room over looking the lakes, an amazing park for the children to play - which I’ve played in many times over the years. There’s also an ice cream van near the entrance gates (possibly the best ice cream I’ve ever had) a gorgeous walk around the lake and then of course the flower gardens. There’s honestly something for everyone here!Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 February 2023

The lake is home to many sorts of duck: possibly more in winter than summer. It is a pleasant relaxing place, despite being located within urban Cardiff. Well maintained footpathsVisited February 2023Written 4 March 2023

Parking was easy and it was a pleasure to walk the whole way round the duck infested lake. There was a well used playground with plenty of families present and a lovely cafe where we had a refreshing cuppa. A nice experience.Visited April 2023Written 19 April 2023

The view was amazing and park was nice. You may have a nice time to relax and look at the lake or set next to the flower garden and enjoy the flowers.

Love bringing the kids here! Parking can be hit or miss but we have always been lucky! Fab little ice cream truck that does the most amazing sundaes. Park is always clean and well maintained. Great walk round the lake. AND DONT FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE CONSERVATORY! We went for the first time ever as didn’t know it was there! A huge array of beautiful koi and friendly terrapins with option to buy food to give them in a stunning tropical waterfall backdrop.

First time visit, walked through all the parks to arrive at the lake. Fantastic array of trees. We walked around the lake and opposite end to where cafe is a little van that can really knock up a very good flat white. Alongside is an Italian guy selling a brilliant small deep fried 'calzoni' looking pastry with the best ingredients. What a find, avoid all the queues in the cafe and visit these two independent traders.

Roath park is one of the fantastic parks to visit.
There is a great play area near the lake for kids a beautiful rose garden and lots of hidden spots for romantic picnics.
The cafe by the lake is brilliant and is also open in the evening.
The barrage on the lake we like most.

Do you still have to pay to enter the conservatory and if so how much? Also is it open in December?

How did the 2 Black swans arrive in Roath Park Lake
Was it to do with the landlord of the locai landlord of the Discovery Pub on Lake side Estate.
Hi Anthony, I love Roath Park, we had a lovely walk right round it today.
However I was extremely disappointed and saddened to see blue slug pellets around the planting outside the Bowling club.
As I am sure you are aware, when slugs have been in contact with these pellets and are subsequently eaten by Hedgehogs, they cause these amazing amazing creatures a slow and agonising death.
It would be lovely to hear that your views and whether you could review your use of these poisonous slug pellets in favour of something Hedgehog friendly...after all Hedgehogs are the best controllers of unwanted plant destroyers you could hope for.
Many thanks

Don’t understand the question. Roath Park caters for all ages but an adult needs to be present with children as the park is quite busy. It’s safe here but you never know!

Is there anywhere to get a coffee/ refreshments?

Yes there’s a great cafe overlooking the lake which had loads of hone made cakes, sandwiches and hot food as well as coffees teas and cold drinks.
Has outdoor seating and indoor seating.
One of the reasons I like going is for the cafe by the lake. :)

I would think about four, depending on weight.
