We visited last October - just doing last reviews (from a 2 month European/UK trip) after checking journals. Loved the Q. Blake exhibition - illustrator of Dahl's books. We also looked at the permanent artworks which was also interesting. Also sounds like a fabulous museum for children especially on a wet day. Hope to return with our grandchildren one day... More

Very fine building with some great history inside. Free to go in with a cafe. But the main star is the contents of our history. Covers locally and items from further a field

We were mostly keen to see the Impressionist paintings and were not disappointed! As well as Monet, Cézanne, Turner and Picasso, my favourites were the August and Gwen John paintings of such subtlety and sensitivity. A bronze of Rodin's Kiss and other samples of Rodin's work were impressive. We were particularly struck by the detailed, but interesting descriptions alongside each... More

A good way to spend a few hours for free. Not one of an art aficionado myself I can't really comment on the gallery side of things. The natural history side is well laid out and, while not on the scale of some other natural history museums, it's a worthwhile few hours if one is interested in the subject. Geology... More

We decided to take the sisters two little daughters here for a day out. Neither had been to a museum & had shown an interest in going. The place is a good size with a great variety of items. We spent 3 hours in here & had an afternoon tea at the little coffee shop. All in all a great... More

Definitely worth the visit for the art gallery, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, Turner and Rossetti all in the same intimate, beautiful space. Really helpful staff and good to see a reception area staffed by people of all abilities.
