Real insight into the coal mining history
Aug 2019
The volunteers have worked tirelessly over years to provide this remarkable museum and memorial garden in order to pay respect to the miners, not only from the Aber Valley but the whole of the UK. It's worth taking time to explore the myriad photos accumulated to evidence the hardship and determination shown by the first mining families of the area.

Small but certainly worth a visit
Jul 2019 • Couples
Visited yesterday and a very helpful volunteer was on hand throughout the visit. He helped us with our questions and directed us to the trail which was very useful.
Managed by volunteers and all free but donate as you feel necessary, this certainly made us more aware of the tragedies that happened here.
Will recommend others to visit.

Questions regarding the 1913 Senghennyd explosion
Mar 2019 • Family
Called there a few days ago. Lovely ladies {Carol and Gill] who could not have been more helpful. An absolute fund of information and help. Wonderful and hugely touching photos and letters from that time. Combine this with a visit to the superb memorial garden commemorating the 439 miners who died at Senghennyd in 1913, not forgetting the 81 who died in 1901.
Very highly recommended.

Highly emotional.
Jun 2018
My wife dearly wished to visit this memorial as she is Welsh and has very strong emotional connections with the coal mining industry.
We were both very emotional during our visit and very impressed with the lovely way the memorial is presented.
Congratulations to all concerned.

Moving and informative
May 2017 • Friends
The heritage museum in Senghenydd is a little storehouse of interesting facts, information and displays .

The moving story of the mining disaster in the village 100 years ago will move and anger visitors.

There is a small coffee bar for refreshments and it is manned by volunteers

Wonderful little museam
Oct 2016 • Couples
Full of interesting facts and artefacts.

An interesting video played to explain the heritage of the Aber Valley. Touch screens with hundreds of photos and a caffe next door.

Retired volunteers man this museam and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They will help you find out details of any family members of friends lost in the disasters.

A wonderful little place.
