Walk along the well made footpath to this peaceful burial ground and read the woeful tale of the end that met poor Gelert a faithful dog who did nothing more than protect his masters young child. Well worth a visit.

My friend Annette and I were in Wales to research, discover and learn more about her ancestry. This included the Llewellyn involvement, hence our visit to this memorial. We had been to Llanwrst and visited the church there, also part of the story. After lunch...More

Beautiful village. A nice pleasant walk to Gelert's grave, such a sad story. Stroll past the grave to the remains of a building and you will find a statue of Gelert. The river runs through the village and it's a great place for the children...More

Lovely pleasant walk along the river, very popular place to visit. Our dog loved the long meadow grass, even better was the sun shining. Definitely worth a visit

The story of Gelert, the dog, is kept alive with this touching tribute/grave. The town is named after this dedicated canine who saved Prince Llewelyn's baby from the mouth of a wolf. It is an easy short walk on a paved path through this beautiful...More

We parked in the cheaper car park further on than the Saracen's Head, up hill a little. The riverside walk is beautiful and the story of Gelert rather sad for young children "but a very long time ago". You can see steam trains go by...More

We stopped here to view the grave of Gelert. The village is very pretty and really worth a stop even if not interested in story of gelert. We parked in the public car park, with a 10minute walk through the town and down the side...More
