Heard the legend so just had to visit when closeby. Set in a field amongst sheep but via a concrete pathway so able to take buggies. Beddgelert very quiet. Railway station there so guess would get plenty of visitors in the summer. Most places were...More

Hopeful believers are pitted against jaded cynics in this uplifting and beautifully scenic, ancient stone village with its murmuring river and challenging tales of loyal hounds and dragons. Do you believe? Can you?

This was a nice simple hike to get to from the lodges at Forest Holidays. The grave is simple and well maintained and there is a lovely Gelert statue nearby.

Hubby and me enjoyed a stroll around this village today (Wednesday). We stopped to have a brief look at this fictional folly which tells the tragic tale of Gelert, the faithful hound of Llewelyn the Great (medieval Prince of Wales). In actual fact, this fake...More

When we visited Beddgelert we made sure to walk to "Gelert's Grave", especially having read his story. The walk from the Village along the River and past pastures was very tranquil, with pleasant views of the Snowdonia Countryside. We thought that the resting place and...More
