For a relaxing afternoon out with another family couple, it was decided that we take a steam train journey from Llangollen to Corwen. We were not disappointed. When the engine started up, and the steam started flowing, with the odd toot, it took us back in time. we all loved every minute of the journey.

My colleague and I (Steam Buffs But Not Anoraks !)visited The Lllangollen Railway on Friday Mar 3rd for their Steam Gala..."Along Birkenhead Lines" and although the weather was not kind it was still enjoyable due to the amount of work put in by the volunteers and a good train timetable. This time we used Berwyn Station as a starting journey... More

This is by far the longest stretch of steam-powered transport I've encountered, covering the ?12 miles or so from Llangollen to Corwen through the beautiful Dee Valley. Staff are friendly and helpful and you get a terrific sense of what pre-Beeching transport was like. A must!

Fab day out, toddler was made up to see all the steam trains, we didn't take a ride on one today but will definitely be going back when the kids get bigger!

A overnight stay on Business took me but once to this delightful Railway.. I want to share above all my Photographs. I was so lucky... It was a rare evening working, so I have plenty of Photographs... I may also share SHREWSBURY with you. I can heartily recommend this Railway, given an alternative third age career to BEN TOURISM... travelling... More

We have been coming here for many years and as a railway the trip through the Dee Valley can't be beaten. The trains are always nice sizes and it is a really pleasant trip. I wouldn't recommend going to Corwen - the extension was a waste of time as Carrog is by far the nicer station for a cup of... More

Thank you for taking the time to give a review of your visit to the Railway and we are sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations. It is somewhat unfair to compare Carrog Station to the temporary station at Corwen. Carrog Station was reopened almost 20 years ago whereas the completion of the line to Corwen Central and... More

Bought back memories of being on a train when a child (not the steam engine but the carriages), super friendly staff even on a cold February day, great little coffee shops and station shops selling anything from toys to train memorabilia. We travelled from Carrog station to llangollen spent the afternoon browsing shops, getting some great local produce to take... More

Spent a lovely day on this volunteer-run steam railway. Station and engine staff were all friendly and helpful - true enthusiasts. Within sensible and safe limits we saw them showing children around the engine, something they may not have been able to do during busier periods. Despite poor weather at times the views are probably at their best at this... More

We had a great time travelling on the railway even though the weather wasn't great, well maintained and staff by enthusiastic people who I assume are mostly volunteers. Lovely to see places like this are still running and are popular

Our visit unfortunately was on a day when no trains were running, but we did get access to the platform to look around. I had checked the website and knew no trains were running. Even the café was closed. We thought it may have been open during the school holidays, so we were a little disappointed and it appeared other... More
