For someone who is interested in old architecture, this is for you. It's just a house. Get that audio tour so that you will understand it more. And btw, get that combo ticket with Conwy Castle. Much cheaper!

Plas Mawr was our first stop in our tour of Wales Heritage tour. We were awestruck by the preservation efforts by CADW, and the interpretation activities they had invested in to make it more approachable and interesting to general public. The tour gave us an insight into the life of one of the general public, and we learned a great... More

A wonderful find in this charming town. We went on a quiet, wintry Sunday and had it to ourselves, almost feeling like I'd been transported back 4 years.

The history of Conwy is laid out here. The centre of Edward I's ring of castles, Conwy has played an important role in the development of North Wales, and it can be learnt here.

Visited on a warm day, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were with friends for a weekend break and found the house to be brilliantly well-preserved. It was great to see the effort that had been made to provide a "genuine" experience - right down to the carrots in the kitchen! Loved it.

Really enjoyed visiting this Elizabethan town house . It was very informative using the audio guide and stewards in the rooms . It really helped to bring the staff and family life alive . It was very well maintained and restored . I would definitely recommend a visit .

Plas Mawr must surely be, after the castle, the prime historic attraction in Conwy. Built by a well-to-do and well-travelled Elizabethan merchant, it is described as a house, and yet in its size and scale might be called a palazzo or even small palace somewhere else. It has three floors and occupies even today virtually the whole length of a... More

Nicely done: an interest in audio tour and rooms decked out as they would have been when the house was built which helped to bring it all alive.
