Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

Whilst the weather was not ideal, the trip to Devil's Bridge was well worth it. The scenery is wonderful through the Vale even when the weather is less than perfect. The falls at Devil's Bridge are fantastic to walk around and can be challenging in...More

Not cheap, but good value. Journey up to Devils Bridge pulled by steam loco (some hot soot, so take old, thick clothes). Scenic ride, and a great viewpoint for the beautiful Red Kites. At Devils Bridge there is a Chocolate Shop, and the Hafod Hotel,...More

Lovely steam train, the views are excellent! Well worth taking your camera for them. Comfortable train but definitely need to wrap up warm, particularly in winter weather. Staff were excellent and knowledgable as well!

Yes but not first class There’s an open one which our dog loved as he could stick his head out and sniff! I think there’s an enclosed 3rd class carriage also if it’s cold

Ask the guards and they will either put it in the guards van for your journey or sometimes you can have it in the carriage. The stations are flat so it's easy manoeuvring.
