Despite having lived in the town 70 years, and being a retired history teacher, I learned a lot about the area, many things to see, interesting talks, a Spitfire simulator not just for kids. Small building but not overcrowded, a lift for disabled.

I booked a spitfire simulator experience for my 87 year old friend. I rang to book and spoke to a lovely man who was efficient and pleasant whilst making the booking. On arrival, the ladies at the front desk were cheerful and welcoming. They quickly set up a video about the contribution of women pilots which was very enjoyable and... More

A small but fascinating museum with excellent exhibits and an amazing archive of documents. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The Spitfire simulator is really good and makes for a fun visit. Well worth taking the time to stop by and see.

Arrived this afternoon with a simulator session booked it was easy to find very friendly staff and a great experience. Didn't have time to view the exhibition so will be going back to soak it all up. Highly recommend this as a day out and it is so reasonably priced great value for money.

Maidenhead Heritage Centre is not spectacular but it is very interesting if you are interested in the history of this ancient riverside town. The volunteers are well informed and very willing to pass on any information on the exhibits or Maidenhead in general. On my visit there was a special exhibition on the various floods that have engulfed Maidenhead over... More

We visited with Year 6 and the children found it interesting and enjoyable. The volunteers were very knowledgeable, giving the children insight into their local history. They also had activities to do in groups around the centre. The flight simulator was a definite hit even with the adults! To really appreciate what is there, you need to spend time looking.... More

When you pop in here the first thing you notice is how clean it all is, clearly well looked after. However the time in here on average is around ten minutes because it is uninterestingly presented, I wish it said something.

Sorry you felt that way. As you posted this a couple of days ago I am wondering on what day you visited.? At the beginning of this week we were in the process of changing exhibitions in the small gallery from Maidenhead and the Movies to FLOODS 1947. There are numerous show cases in the ground floor gallery including Hand... More

Such a lovely histrical day out. Maidenhead is such an old place and it was great to appreciate all the historical connections to it. We took the family its very interactive. Good restaurants and food and gifts which as always are pricey but you expect that

For some smaller museums, you go in with low expectations... this one was one. We had a voucher for the spitfire museum, which is in a upstairs area of the museum, and was available after watching a brief 2 min video. As always with these places, it is the volunteers who make the place, and can ask LOTS of questions.... More

Very friendly and informative staff for a large foreign group. They even found a German speaker in their volunteers to guide the fliers in the group on how to use the simulator. A very nice experience indeed, thanks to all at the museum.
