Tthe buildings and grounds (gardens) of The Close of Salisbury Cathedral were a surprise. We enjoyed them for all the obvious reasons, but the Close also served as a shortcut for our walk into town from the Cathedral View B&B - a most enjoyable walk!

Nothing really prepares you for the size of the Close here and the height of the Cathedral tower and spire. So much grander than Winchester for example which felt much more enclosed. This gives much more scope to see the stunning architecture and also to...More

The Cathedral Close is a tranquil place to visit, an oasis within the City and contains most of the places of interest. As well as the Cathedral you have Arundells, Museum of Salisbury, Rifles Museum, Mompesson House and places to eat.

OK - I'm quoting Bill Bryson (can I do this on Trip Advisor?): “There is no doubt in my mind that Salisbury Cathedral is the single most beautiful structure in England and the Close around it the most beautiful space.” I absolutely do not disagree...More

I'm keen to stay at the close in August but had no reply to 2 emails sent over the last week. Maybe I've got the address wrong.
