I love this place, have visited since I was a child
So fantastic that you can go in
Magical feeling
Great place for a picnic
Parking area is on a very fast and dangerous road so be careful with dogs and children

Missed finishing my review from a visit in July 23, so here it is.
Not many things are free to visit these days, so fabulous to find somewhere that is interesting & free to visit.
We have been to Avebury before, but with so much to see, we didn’t get time to visit here on our first visit.
We parked nearby, a short 15/20 mins is all it will take to reach this historic site.
Absolutely awesome that you can visit inside the chambers & the views are incredible.
The whole ancient landscape of Avebury is worth visiting.

Interesting Neolithic burial site. You can go inside the burial chamber but bring a flashlight. 10 minute walk to the site. Can be muddy after a rain.

Of all the Neolithic sites we have visited, this one is the best.
You are able to walk into the "rooms".
There is also a great view from the top of the mound.

Spectacular ancient site. Picturesque, covered in wild flowers. If I were to believe in spirituality, this place would be spiritual.

You can go inside the barrow itself and see what a real stone age sacred burial site is like.

Well worth the visit, and it's free to boot!

Wonderfully peaceful.

A lovely, hot summer’s day. We parked by Silbury Hill viewing area under the shade of the trees and walked from there.
It was well worth the walk.

One of the most impressive chambered long barrows. Long chalk mound with a superb entrance curbed with massive end stones, and an impressive set of five roofed chambers behind. Epic setting too, with views of the hills around and Silbury Hill looming to the north.
