Step back in time and wander through the enchanting streets, shops and houses and experience life as a Victorian. As a fun, family-friendly and interactive museum, Abbey House Museum is a great day out for all the family. Come to one of our many family sessions as advertised on our website or pop in with friends for a trip down memory lane.On the ground floor visit Stephen Harding Gate, the 19th century equivalent of a modern high street, for some old fashioned retail therapy. In the back streets, see the home of the window washer woman or pop into the Sunday-School. On the first floor, see our Childhood and Community Galleries along with the changing programme of exhibitions. Abbey House Museum is situated directly across the road from the historical site of Kirkstall Abbey, set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire.

This is an interesting museum cost to get in £3.50 it had a little town set up in old times, kids could dress in period costume and take pictures in different shops or the school. They also had a great section on the 1960s I would highly recommend this place

This is a fairly small museum split into two sections. The ground floor is set out like a Victorian High Street while upstairs is about childhood and toys. Downstairs children are encouraged to dress up in Victorian type cloths or use the interactive displays to decide what sort of job you may have got back then. At present there are... More

While quite small, the museum is bigger than it looks from the outside. Admission prices are very reasonable, and the staff are both knowledgeable and helpful. A very nice museum to visit.

Walk through the doors, and you step back in time, it even offers the oppotunity to dress in costume, the street set up is wonderous, and enter the cells if you dare an amazing place to spend a wet afternoon in

Although I had visited Kirkstall Abbey on several occasions I had not discovered the Abbey House Museum before. It is a lovely place to explore social history and see items from recent history. During the visit there were several school groups holding a museum experience day and I must report that their visits were organised most efficiently and the children... More

As a student this cost me £3.40 and I left feeling as though I had got my money's worth. The downstairs area is absolutely incredible. They've recreated a street from Victorian England in remarkable detail and I couldn't help grinning the whole time as I walked along the cobblestones and peered into the shop windows. It really is quite a... More

I was last here when my son was 3 so was apprehensive that he would be told old for i. I was wrong and he still loved it. The arts and craft section is good and the competitions for older ones keeps them entertained. My 7 year old still loved dressing up in the Victorian clothes and putting pennies in... More

When i came here i was expecting to just be looking round your average museum, after walking through we came to the recreated victorian streets and shops! So much to see and much much bigger than it looks from the outside! another one of my favourite museums! definitely a great place to come on a rainy day!
