Step back in time and wander through the enchanting streets, shops and houses and experience life as a Victorian. As a fun, family-friendly and interactive museum, Abbey House Museum is a great day out for all the family. Come to one of our many family sessions as advertised on our website or pop in with friends for a trip down memory lane.On the ground floor visit Stephen Harding Gate, the 19th century equivalent of a modern high street, for some old fashioned retail therapy. In the back streets, see the home of the window washer woman or pop into the Sunday-School. On the first floor, see our Childhood and Community Galleries along with the changing programme of exhibitions. Abbey House Museum is situated directly across the road from the historical site of Kirkstall Abbey, set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire.

It was interesting seeing what the life has been like in those times but the museum is not very big therefore I would say it's a bit overpriced. However the place it's worth it to be seen.

An excellent location for anyone that is visiting Leeds and area's near by. Our party comprised of 4 adults a teenager and a 6 year old. The museum was fantastic and catered for every age. The dress up costumes were a big hit especially with the adults.

Family-friendly site opening a window onto 19th-century life in Leeds with shops, houses and an inn and with the Abbey over the road, you can make a day of it and take a picnic.

This is the site of the original Abbey Gatehouse. Built to a wonderful design from long ago. Inside, Bring back yours and your grand parents childhood days. Toys from when children had little, no Tv, no computers, etc. Just wonderful real old toys. Shops with all the wonderful objects and goods once sold many years ago are on display, just... More

Kids were moaning not another museum, and they all thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon. Victorian shops and streets to look at, old fashioned slot machines with pennys you can purchase, a great afternoon. Would recommend for all ages.

Having visited many years ago as a child, I had been meaning to return so my wife & I went with our grandaughter a few weeks ago. It is very deceptive & there are many things packed into such a small building. The recreated old streets with shops etc are excellent. The fairy tales exhibition & a small display on... More

Brilliant way of displaying exhibits as shops and street scenes that makes you feel that you are living the experience. Upstairs the exhibits are arranged in themes around Fairy tales and fantasies. There is a dress up area in the exhibition which seemed really popular for young children. For adults it is a walk down memory lane seeing thing from... More

I love visiting this museum and my children love it too. It's interesting for all ages and the staff are friendly, enthusiastic and full of knowledge. They are always happy to talk to you to answer any questions. I could spend all day just wandering around that Victorian street! It's not expensive either, very good value for money and a... More
