This is a small reserve but worthy of a visit. It has riverside (Aire), reedbeds, pond-dipping and feeding stations. Although the variation of birds is not as big as other reserves due to not being on a migration route, rarities do turn up occasionally. The...More

How many Leeds folk have visited this fascinating wild bird reserve on an old sewage farm in suburban Leeds. Not too many I'd guess. Take your binoculars and enjoy a pleasant couple of hours in the company of twitchers galore! There's even a cafe (though...More

Really good nature reserve, with varying landscape; wetlands, meadows, fields & pond areas. Good for all the family or just dedicated bird watchers. We go to buy our bird food at the shop/tea room. Very good value for money.

This is one of our grandchildren’s favourite places to go! Always so peaceful and well maintained and so much wildlife to see! Big thanks to all volunteers who keep this running!

We visit here often. We cycle along the canal and drop in on the bikes for a drink and snack. The little voluntary run cafe is so cheap! There are lovely walks around the reserve and children can ask staff for pond dipping nets and...More

Hi Emma, yes we think so! We're still open and the birds are sometimes easier to see at this time of year because they rely on the feeders. We don't have pond dipping at this time of year, but there are some small tanks in... More

5.5 miles by road. The journey should take around 15 minutes by car, or half an hour by bus (change at Horsforth).
