Great building and interesting exhibitions

Well worth going just to see the building (grade II listed). Galleries are of modest size but free and a good range of interesting exhibits.

This building is really gorgeous, the architechture is incredible and imposing. When entering it is quite hard to find directions to where you want to be but there is a counter you can ask at just through the foyer, Be sure to look at the Brotherton Treasures while you are there

I visited the gallery at the same time as visiting the new treasures of the brotherton gallery at the university. I can't believe I haven't been before - they had some really fantastic examples of 20th century British art and a really interesting exhibition of Maurice de Sausmarez's work. I recommend visiting both galleries at the university in one visit... More

About 20 minutes walk from train station but worth it. The George Morland exhibition was a revelation , it details the life and works of one of English Arts great characters. Also of note are the works by Leger and Stanley Spencer. The student refectory is ideal for a budget lunch.

I always keep an eye out for what's coming up in this little gem of a gallery, tucked away in Leeds University. A few visits each year when there is something new to look at and not been disappointed yet.
