Been meaning to visit this museum for a while but never quite got around to it. But did this weekend. Bit of a biased visit to be honest as Mum is from Horsforth and we were having a bit of a family history day. Fascinating for us as Mum was enthralled by watching a video of photos taken of how... We had a fascinating visit to this small but very good museum, on the village green in Horsforth. The major eye-catcher was the display of HMS Aubrietia, the ship that Horsforth residents contributed their fund-raising to; and the ship which famously sank a U-boat AND collected the first intact Enigma code-machine. The other displays were nearly all dedicated to WWI,... More

Horsforth Museum is a lovely village museum with items of interest to adults and children. It has been open since 1988 on a weekend, Saturdays 10am - 4pm and Sundays 2pm - 5pm in addition it runs coffee mornings on the last Saturday in the month selling Teas, coffee, soup and lots of home baking. Generally the exhibits in the... More

Well worth a look, but remember it is run by locals and only open at the weekend. It would be all too easy to criticise but I think they are doing a good job providing nostalgia and local history, its free entry so what do the moaners want, take your kids or grandchildren, show them how it was when you... Great little museum - not all areas of a city have there own dedicated museum showing the history of the area. Lots of photos, every changing exhibits and a lovely atmosphere.

If there were a museum for museums this place would be in it, but in the dusty old store room. More of a collection of donated memorabilia - seen better at a car boot sale. I dare say there's a gem or two in there, but it really needs editing. Opening times are rare. More of a trip down memory... More

Like the museums of my youth a great many exhibits in a very small space but with cheerful, helpful staff and a genuine warmth to the place. Mostly a 'how we used to live' experience but don't go expecting interactivity (outside of the obliging staff that is). And don't keep putting off going on the excuse that it's 'one for... More
