Went on the 11.00am sailing which was the first trip of the year. The boat was the Kingfisher which has recently undergone a refit. The two crew members were very knowledgable but did not overload us with information. Being very approachable both were more than willing to answer questions asked of them. I liked the information available in map and... More

Walked along the canal from near Cutfiled Bridge to the marina alongside Salterns lock. Lovely quiet stretch with plenty of wildlife. Also interesting when they open the marina lock gates to balance the water levels.

Lovely afternoon out, went with my wife and 3 daughters (5 / 8 / 13) to meet Father Christmas. The trips are run by volunteers however there is still a professional feel to the excursion. We were provided with sausage rolls, mince pies, soft drinks for children, tea/coffee or mulled wine for the adults. Father Christmas gets on board canal... More

From the moment you step onto the lovely Christmas decorated narrowboat you just know that this is going to be fun. And it certainly was. When Santa boarded the vessel at the turn around point even the adults got swept up in the magic and my goodness Santa's gifts were certainly not shabby at all. The snacks on board were... More

This was our 4th year on the Father Christmas trip and we also did the Easter Bunny trip this year. Think this is a really lovely experience and probably the best locally. Great value for money with the refreshments and the quality of interaction with Father Christmas is excellent. Staff are all fantastic. We really enjoyed this once again and... More

We visit here pretty often as the walk is great for our dog and you can hire rowing boats for a very reasonable price too (also dog friendly!). The cafe food is always really lovely - better than the likes of Starbucks etc - and its run by friendly volunteers. Dogs aren't allowed inside the cafe that I'm aware of,... More

Excellent canal boat trip! Volunteers were great! Very welcoming with a glass of mulled wine, sausage rolls and mince pie! Beautiful scenery. Father Christmas joined us on the barge which they all loved and children's presents were great. I thoroughly enjoyed going on deck despite the weather. Great value for money and lovely family afternoon out! Merry Christmas!

If you would like to see what captivated Turner in his 'Chichester Canal' painting, why not try a leisurely cruise and discover for yourself. A few days ago I enjoyed a cold, Christmas Lunch on board 'The Richmond.' We were welcomed on board by friendly, volunteer staff and crew members who showed us to our festive tables. We enjoyed a... We took our grandchildren on the Father Christmas trip. Fabulous staff, lovely cruise, really good quality presents, and great illuminations in the canal basin. However the star was Father Christmas, who was simply the most authentic and engaging FC we've met in recent years. Many thanks to all the staff at the Canal Trust for a great experience.
