St. Mary's Guildhall is one of the finest surviving medieval guildhalls in England, and has been one of Coventry's premier historic venues for more than 600 years. First built in the 1340s for the merchant guild of St. Mary, with its magnificent medieval interiors, and fine artworks the Guildhall offers a window into Coventry's glorious past.

Once a prison to Mary, Queen of Scots, and even a playhouse where Shakespeare is thought to have performed, the Guildhall provides a fascinating free experience for all ages, at the historic heart of the city.

St. Mary's Guildhall also offers a memorable venue for weddings, meetings, conferences and private functions, whilst in the vaulted undercroft beneath the Great Hall is the atmospheric Godiva's cafe, offering tasty, good value snacks and refreshments.

While visiting friends in Coventry they took us to the beautifull area around the bombed Cathedral. Some beautifull historic building there and one of them is St. Mary's Guildhall. We were lucky to be able to go in for a look around as it was actually closed for an official function but the gentleman in charge gave us a quick... More

Have been a number of times for events, the last one was for a wedding. It is like being in history. The stories of the place go back many centuries. It was originally built for the Guilds of Coventry, but over the time has ended up being used, I understand as a Parliament for the King, including use by the... More

Used the little cafe at the Guildhall recently when visiting the area with friends from out of town. We all ordered hot drinks & shared cakes (brownie & shortbread), those of us that ordered a 'large' hot chocolate & 'large' coffee were quite surprised by the misinterpretation of the word large as we were presented with small mugs (as opposed... I went for an Award ceremony, so I am not sure if you would normally pay. A very beautiful building worth a visit.

Took my granddaughters to visit the Guildhall, it quite a beautiful place you can have a meal or afternoon tea. My brother held his wedding reception there 27 years ago. A truly wonderful historic building, well worth a visit

It was a nice visit. The guildhall includes nice stained glass with the hall being currently used for receptions like weddings. The upper rooms are indeed nice where one of which was the room which kept Mary Queen of Scots imprisoned during the Catholic uprising in the North.Highly recommend a visit here in conjunction with other attractions in Coventry such... We went to kill some time but really there's not much there. Apart from trying on some helmets, was a bit boring.

We spent a few hours here and the locals we met kept us chatting with additional information and local knowledge. Beautiful tapestries and artifacts throughout. The staff were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed chatting and wandering. There were no crowds at all. A really great historical building that has been carefully cared for by the Coventry people.
