We visited here on its last open day as part of the Heritage Weekend. Frankly, we could have spent our time elsewhere for greater benefit. It didn't detain us long, although we did have a mug of tea. It was free to enter, which is...More

I visited the Electric Railway Museum on it's final day of opening in it's current site. It has an impressive collection of electric locos and units including two former Clacton trains which have been converted into a museum and cafe which served great food. I'm...More

Just learned of this museum's existence today, on the eve of its closing. Sure wish I'd known of it when I visited Coventry last month. Perhaps if the Council had advertised its presence more - I searched the list of Coventry sights before traveling there,...More

A great place to see some unique (truly unique - sole survivors!) items of electric railway rolling stock. There are EMUs, locos, and an APT power car. Modernish railway heritage - much of it older than most of the visitors we saw there today.

This museum will be closing after the open days in October. The good news is that all the exhibits will be moving to new homes. We went to the August open day and were made most welcome by the volunteers. Yes it is free entry...More

We went to the open day at the Electric Railway Museum. The open day was free and there were lots of things to do. The kids loved the miniature Railway and enjoyed exploring the trains especially sitting in the driver seats. There is a small...More

Visited today with my daughter and wasn't sure what to expect. The museum is only open a handful of times a year. There was a mini train to ride on which myself and my daughter enjoyed, a small museum inside one of the trains, a...More
