About
If you're looking for a truly unique day out for all the family, you can't beat Coventry Transport Museum. In the heart of Coventry city centre, this huge Museum is home to the world's largest collection of British road transport in public ownership. You'll discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world's motor and cycle industries, and get up close and personal with the actual vehicles that defined some of history's most important moments. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time - you'll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. Moving through the rise and fall of the city's largest industry, you will come face to face with the world's fastest car - Thrust SSC. No where else on Earth will you find such a unique experience for the whole family.

    Truly impressive collection.
Truly impressive museum. If you have the slightest interest in cars and transport in general you’ll love this museum. It is hugely deceptive and Tardis like. The exhibition just goes on and on. I think we were probably there for around three hours. There are cars from every period along with bicycles and motor bikes & trucks etc. There are also land speed record breaking cars. Well worth a visit right in the centre of Coventry a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral.

    First Class.
We had a fantastic time. The museum kindly arranged disabled parking and a handy entrance. All the staff we met were kind and helpful. The exhibits are all well laid out and give a great snapshot of British (Coventry) motoring history!

    Coventry motor museum.
Spent a good few hours wandering around this really good motor museum, it had lots to see in all the different halls from the smallest cars to the fastest, all worth seeing. Cost was reasonable with the option to keep the ticket once paid and return within the next twelve months for free. At the end was the usual gift shop and cafe, would I go again ... yes if I was in the area, you will always see something you missed the first time.

    A Thrust to remember
We took 2 boys on Oct 19th (age 11 and 7) and they really enjoyed the museum exhibits but the best was the thrust sc simulation. The staff went out of their way to make it a trip to remember. A friend of our boys was nervous about going into the simulation so the staff showed what would happen to put the boy at ease. Our boys, friends and some adults experienced Thrust twice - one saying it was the best thing he had ever experienced. To round it off we were given two posters for our boys as were the other family. Five star treatment.

A wonderful trip down memory lane
What a wonderful museum and your ticket allows you to visit as many times as you like for 12 months which makes this exceptional value. It is truly amazing the exhibits set out beautifully with information boards providing details that brings everything to life. A nostalgic experience down memory lane for older people but a great insight into the motoring pedigree of Coventry through the decades. It provides an immersive as well as educational experience the staff are great and the shop and cafe are well worth a visit. A must visit attraction.

    Visit to Santa
Wonderful visit to Santa. Very friendly staff. A good selection of festive items to take some photos before. The vintage sleigh ride was so nostalgic. Santa was very friendly and judged our slightly nervous child just right. It was also nicely spaced out. We didn't feel crowded or rushed. The book linking to the sleigh ride was a lovely touch and a nice surprise when we read it later. Well done

    Good day out, but!
Hi, I visited CTM on 30 Dec 2023 with my grandson 4yo. We parked at the back of CTM cost £5 for 4 hours cash, card, or phone. 3 minutes walk to CTM main entrance.CTM well signed posed into city. Very good display well worth a visit. The biggest disappointment children could not climb on any of the displays. During the past year, we have visited 3 other museums London TM, RAF Cosford and Leyland TM all allowed children to explore some of the displays not all but a few which made it interesting for children. I also think areas to sit and watch videos not just stand and watch. I can recommend the Cafe for good food and value.

Great way to spend a couple of hours
Lovely museum, the lady on the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Tickets are valid for a year so if we are ever in the area again we have some where to visit. Spent a good couple of hours wandering round looking at all the different vehicles from the local area.

    Great place to visit
Surprisingly large museum. Stayed nearly 3 hours. Focusses mainly on Coventry produced cycles, motorcycles and cars. With the odd bus, lorry, van and military vehicle thrown in for good measure. Not forgetting the vehicles which broke land speed records! even Princess Di's mini metro. Well worth a visit.

Expensive so get the half price tickets
Absolutely wonderful. We spent half a day here and needed more time to get through everything. The tickets are very expensive though. They are valid for a year but that is not much use if you're only visiting for a short trip. If you go to the Herbert Museum you can get half price tickets for the transport museum (the Herbert museum is also brilliant) Also a lovely cafe with great good value lunches.

Undoubtedly the best museum I have ever been to. You would need to be interested in the history of Coventry, or Motor cars, or Motorcycles, or Bicycles, to appreciate it.
One minor caveat. It’s so big that you need more than one visit to really appreciate it, but if you want to leave, after say an hour, it’s hard to find the exit.

An enjoyable visit. Exhibits were interesting and took you through the history of car and motor bike manufacturing in Coventry to present day technology. Layout of museum good. Shop was well stocked . It’s certainly worth a visit!

This must be visit 10, I first visited in the early 80’s. I love this museum, in the heart of what was the British Motor Industry. The exhibits are fabulous and the information is very good. I love my visits here and will be back again

It’s not particularly cheap even for a senior ticket but you have the use of the ticket for a whole year, not bad if you live locally but sadly not much use if your just visiting from further afield!!
Having said that once inside there’s definitely a lot to see, each vehicle has a good description of its history.
