Fab day out, lots to see and explore
We visited as a couple during the midsummer carnival event, there was lots on and loads to see and do. The War of the Roses live performance of jousting was great, loved by all those who watched. The actors were great and really got into their roles, and engaging the crowds, even in the pouring rain! We saw a demonstration of the trebuchet, sadly we missed the falconers quest, there was so much to do we ran out of time even though there from opening until closing! We paid extra to experience the interactive dungeons experience, great fun. Fab day out for everyone!
Thankyou so much for your amazingly kind words! We are glad you enjoyed our shows as much as we do and its wonderful to hear that you found all our actors great. At the Castle we aim to make all guest experiences run smoothly and lovely and I am glad you were able to have this ! Hope to see you soon ! Warwick castle

    Worth a visit
We visited Warwick Castle recently and had a great day! We wanted to visit before the Zog show ended in September as our 3 children love Zog. The live show was brilliant and our little ones loved it. We also took the chance to meet Zog, the area to meet Zog is a little out of the way and not that well signposted. We stood by the entrance and just hoped we were in the right place, thankfully we were! We also watched a couple of other of the shows and these were also brilliant! The actors did a really good job even in the bit of rain that we had. We didn't have chance to go inside the castle this time, purely because our children are a little bit young to appreciate it just yet! But we have already made plans to return to visit the castle. There are also little activities and shows in the courtyard. We took a little visit to the Zog playground which has a lovely design. However, a few areas have motion sensored sounds when you approach. These frightened the life out of my children and they were a little traumatised, we swiftly left shortly after as they were reluctant to go on other things. So, easily spooked children beware! As with all Merlin attractions there's a parking charge. I always think its a bit cheeky to charge for parking when the attraction cost is quite pricey! Again we visited the gift shop which was quite pricey but you end up giving in so your little ones can have a little memento of the day! Warwick Castle is a great day out with something for all the family. Its a little on the pricey side so be prepared for that but there's plenty to do and is definitely a day out worth doing!

    Amazing historic castle
Came here as part of a coach trip and I was amazed with the history this castle contains! There is plenty to do for everyone here, regardless of age. shows, tours, shops, and plenty of information for those with an interest in history. My only complaint was that I never had enough time to take everything in or enjoy any shows as I was limited for time. To fully explore and see everything this castle has to offer would take a full day.

    Eye watering entry cost
The first thing to remember is that it is mainly based around children, so adults may find it a bit underwhelming. Everything about the visit is expensive, the quite frankly extortionate entry price of £156.00 for 4 adults, that does not gain entry to all areas of the castle is not a good start. The food, coffee, souvenirs, cold drinks, additional visit costs, in fact everything is designed to do nothing more than extract as much cash from you as possible. As an example, should your children wish to try archery, there is an additional £6.00 cost per child for a few arrows. Yes it's a stunning location full of history, yes there is plenty to do, yes the shows are good, yes it is excellent for children. The Falconers Quest I must say is a superb show. Come on Merlin group, at a time where families are struggling through a cost of living crisis, cut people a bit of slack. You are pricing yourself out of many peoples budgets. Worth a visit, but be prepared to have very deep pockets.

Absolutely amazing. Great entertainment for the whole family. We took a picnic and after the jousting ate it at the river bank to watch the shows. The jousting was by far the best we've seen, and they really engage you, taking sides for the war of the Roses! Great castle, lots to do and see, we've now visited several times. Best place to park is actually down the road, by a large park, as its only a few minutes walk up hill, cheaper and no issues getting a space. A really great day, from the birds of prey to the peacocks in the gardens!
Thankyou for such a fantastic review. We are so glad you enjoyed our Wars of the Roses show that we are exceptionally proud to host at the Castle. As we proudly host the UK's biggest Birds of Prey show, we are very pleased to hear that you share the same appreciation for our fascinating birds. Our own specially trained Falconer works incredibly hard with our birds to achieve such an impressive show, and to receive such positive feedback is very rewarding.

    Amazing entertainment
I absolutely adore this castle and the staff are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much trouble. This visit, we did the dungeon tour, quite a few jump scares, keeps you on your toes and well worth the extra money to do, we were presented with a photo album with all the professional photos took off us that day, with the extras for keyrings and fridge magnets, was £20, but it was presented well and again a lovely keepsake if you have the extra money. Love the falconers quest, peacock gardens, legend of the trebuchet, horrible histories theatre, didn't do the war of the roses on this visit as there was only performance that day and couldn't catch the later show but have done on previous visits and it is great entertainment. The price of entry, in my opinion, is great value for money during peak time for the amount of entertainment put on by the hard working staff is definitely worth it. If you plan your day well, you can hit all the entertainment as nothing overlaps. Sure food prices are a little pricey but you can take a picnic in and there are plenty of places to eat as the grounds are so beautiful and plenty of places to recycle your waste too. Already planning a repeat visit soon as I can't stay away for long.
Hello, Hayley thankyou for your wonderful comments. We truly value them! We are so glad you had a lovely, but scary castle dungeon experience. I will pass this on to the team. Thankyou for all the positive comments, regarding our shows and our site. We are proud to offer such shows, along side with the beautiful views and grounds the castle offers. Thankyou for the positive words about our staff, we really appreciate it. Hope too see you soon! Warwick castle

Be prepared to be jostled - and not by knights
Car parking was horrendous... parked in a big field and had to walk 20 minutes to the castle, often with people coming the other way on a narrow path. And had to pay for the privilege. Once there the castle was absolutely packed and impossible to enjoy, espeically in the attractions like the playground and maze. It was evident the policy was 'pack em in' and get as much money as possible.
Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear that it did not live up to expectation. Unfortunately with us being a grade 1 listed property Parking can prove to be challenging. A shuttle bus was operating from the field car park when you visited to assist with this.

Fantastic show - but put your phone away!
Warwick Castle's 'The Dragon Slayer' show was a captivating experience that blended history, fantasy, and entertainment. The stunning backdrop of the castle added an authentic and magical atmosphere to the performance. The actors' dedication and energy were evident, making the characters come to life and engaging the audience. The mix of choreography, special effects, and pyrotechnics created thrilling battle scenes and moments of awe. However, some might find the pacing a bit uneven, with moments of intense action followed by slower narrative segments. Overall, 'The Dragon Slayer' offers a unique and enjoyable evening for those interested in medieval tales and a taste of the fantastical. The only disappointment and somewhat annoying element of the whole evening, was the sea of mobile phones held aloft by people recording the show. Be in the moment and enjoy the spectacular, after all 100s of other people have done this already and posted their videos on YouTube - so you don't have to.
Thankyou for taking the time to write a review on your experience, watching the incredible 'The Dragon Slayer' Held at Warwick Castle. Each year this shows is always one of our most popular shows and each year, the fantastic team make it better and better. We are so incredibly lucky to work with such a fantastic company 'Knights of Middle England' who also perform the incredible jousting show in the summer, 'Wars of the Roses' . I do believe no filming of photography is permitted unless authorised and so we appreciate you letting us know so we can make the relevant teams know for future performances. We appreciate your continued support and we hope to see you again soon.

    Worth going
Everything was as advertised. A great place to learn about history. It takes about 3-4 hours to see everything. It is direct train from London, which stops there, so convenient to come. The railway station is currently under repair.

Well worth the trip......but plan ahead if you have children
We spent two days in the castle as part of a package deal, whilst staying in a wooden lodge in the Castles Knights Village with my 5 year old grandson. I would recommend these lodges as part of the experience, as we had a fantastic time, and having two days for the price of one in the castle meant we were never rushed. Great staff and extremely help and knowledgeable. The ticket office manager arranged for me to borrow a mobility scooter to aid our visit, and this made life so much easier due to my mobility issues. Pretty much every part of the castle and grounds are accessible by the scooter, and those that aren’t are easy to walk around. We had a fantastic day out and the falconry show was so good, we did it twice. Add the experience at Knights Village at the end of the day and you won’t regret it. If I had to make any adverse comment at all, I think it old be the additional costs for some children’s activities inside the castle. I appreciate all activities cost to be put on, but visitors with more than one child might find it expensive....so plan ahead..... We prepared a pic nic each day so we were able to sit in the sun and watch the shows whilst having a bite to eat.... Well worth the trip.
Hello Steven, thankyou for taking the time to write us such a lovely review! We are so glad that you had a fantastic 2 days here, both at the Castle and down at our Knights Village too. Our staff take such pride in their work and its so good to see it is being shown across site. As a historical site, we appreciate that not all of the attractions are as accessible for everyone, and ensuring we give guests, such as yourselves, the opportunity to hire a mobility scooter to aid you in your day and make it more accessible and enjoyable is fantastic, knowing you were able to get the most out of your day! The site is full of remarkable places to sit to enjoy your picnic and enjoy the view of the Castle or to enjoy the shows as you did yourself. We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon.

We were two adults who spent the afternoon at Warwick Castle. During the winter months, not all of the shows are available. The Birds of Prey show was the only one available but it was very impressive.

Ice skating was available, but this was an additional charge.

Nice displays and interesting history.

TOP TIP: If you are happy to arrive after midday, there are a couple of websites that offer half-day tickets at a significantly reduced price.

Hello @tomgomito We’re thrilled to read that you had such an interesting visit to Warwick Castle and enjoyed all of the shows and displays available, as you may be aware due to the seasonal nature of our business, not all of our attractions are open during the winter period; however this is reflected in our Winter Pricing Structure. Thank you for sharing your top tips with Trip Advisor readers, we hope to see you again soon!

We Went to the Castle for my 60th bithday on 1/1/2020, what an amazing place to visit un beknowing to me my partner had booked for us to stay two nights in the rose suite situated at the top of caesar tower, the room was amazing, the bed fantastically comfortable, quiet, warm, and decorated with period features. A special thank you to the concergies, Jack, Ethan and Georgina for a wonderful experience, and for going above and beyond helping my partner arrange the special surprises such as balloons, flowers and champagne etc. Absolutely fantastic place to stay and live in. Breakfast was fantastic, delicious and private dining in the library!!!! Jack's knowledge of the history of the castle was flawless and so interesting, you can wander around the castle before opening to the public was priceless, everyone so friendly and helpful. The only thing i can warn you about is you need to be fit, as you have castle winding steps to the top of the suite, and they are medieval!!! :) and on site refreshments are quite expensive, however if you stay in one of the tower suites, you get a complementry all day meal card so you can eat and drink (not alcohol) for free, so that was brilliant and a god send, especially if you have children with you. I loved every moment of staying there, if you want to give someone a special present this is it!! Not every day you get to stay in a real castle!!!! Brilliant

We stayed in the Rose suite on Saturday for one night, which is located in one of the turrets. Jack and Ethan our concierges was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble, they organised our private tour round the castle out of hours and the tickets to the Castle Dungeon. Jack even arranged for us to have breakfast in the Blue Boudoir on the Sunday morning. We left the castle Saturday evening and went to Warwick for dinner arriving back at the castle at about 11, we were met by security by one of the gates and walked us back to the court yard, which was surreal and very empty (sadly no ghosts). The room itself is stunning, it has a vaulted ceiling and very authentic looking furniture, the shower room has a under floor heating plus elemis products. It even has a tv that comes out of the sideboard!! All mod cons in a building that is over 900 hundred years old. This has been very well thought out. Ethan advised when the castle was open to make sure the room door was locked as people will try and get in and he was right!!

Our private tour on the Sunday morning with Charlotte was excellent. She knew her history and could answer all of my questions which was lots, she even very kindly showed us a couple of rooms that were not open to the public.

The whole experience from start to finish was incredible, it is expensive but very much worth it, what was really surprising was that we could go for a wander around the grounds and turrets when the castle was closed to the public which made the experience more enjoyable.

I can’t recommend this high enough – thank you to all who made this an unforgettable experience for us.

Two reviews here. One for the castle (winter skating) and the other for the Coach House.

Warwick Castle:
I booked tickets for the winter skating on line including entrance to the castle. Relatively easy to do, but even with the on line discount, quite pricey. However, as per other Merlin atractions it was expected - whether this is right or not is a different question. Anyway, on the day we made our way to the castle and it is well sign posted in Warwick and we parked up. NB. There is a good 10 minute walk from the car park to the castle so prepare accordingly!

Once at the castle we got through the "already booked" queue which was just us (me and my two daughters) and went straight to the castle as our ice skating session was later on. We walked the site and to be far it is well maintained and the views from the top of the castle are amazing. Good session generally, but could have more activties for the kids to make them really interested in history.

Next we went for the ice skating session. This seemed relatively well organised but really frustrating that you are charged for them to look after bags. More cash in their pocket! Got on the ice rink and for the first twenty minutes all was going well. None of us had fallen and we'd managed to get of the hand rails! However, with a bit of confidence we did start to skate / walk a bit but unfortunately my younger daughter fell and really hurt her arm. Although the first aider was there relatively quickly, he did seem inexperienced but treated my daughter well. After that staying on the site seemed a bit infeasible so we didn't feel the need to stay any longer, which was disappointing considering how much we'd paid. Not sure if we'd go back again based on this experience.

Coach House
After the castle, we did go to the coach house for lunch. A small restaurant with limited seating and we did have to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seated. However, we got to our seats and although it is a strangley arranged restaurant it was pleasantly set up. Meal took another 20 minutes (even though choices were limited) to arrive but it was very nice. I'd probably go again if the opportunity arose. However, go as a small group (4 max) otherwise you wouldn't be comfortable.

We visited Warwick castle in October 2020. While visiting Stow on the Wold, we purchased our tickets to visit the castle from a Tourist Information Office. The person selling the tickets assured us that the email we recieved on our smartphone should be sufficient for admission to the castle. On reaching the castle, the staff insisted that the email was not enough, they wanted a printed copy of the ticket. We found this a ridiculous situation, It took us half an hour to gain entry to the castle. With an expensive ticket (no concession rates for seniors) there was no guide or map to the castle and grounds. To access the cafe, one has to pass through the dungeons area, which was another awkward moment especially when it was raining. We found the staff very unfriendly and not helpful to tourist. The cafe did not have much choice, the food was not heated on purchase.

This was a mostly fabulous day out. It was pretty rainy and cold but that meant on a Saturday it was quietish. We arrived after 2 as we had lunch in Warwick first and unfortunately as you have to book times for everything we missed out on a couple of events we would have liked to attend and for £27 each it was an expensive ticket. We loved doing the archery (£5 each extra) and the Falcons Quest was amazing. We had to stand in the muddy field as, because of Covid, half the benches couldn't be used. We did notice a lot of disregard for Social distancing but it is not the fault of staff - people need to take responsibility for their own actions and a lot just don't. I do have a little gripe about the parking - I tried to check which was the closest to the castle and could only find conflicting info mostly recommending St Nicholas. Well I was surprised to find the stables carpark right at the entrance Obviously it was full by the time we got there but if you go early and have mobility issues, this is the closest. We loved the day out and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Hello LVeall, It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Warwick Castle. We continually review our pricing structure to provide value for money for our guests. We work hard to combine our rich and vibrant history with entertainment to create a fun and engaging atmosphere for people of all ages, and only charge extra for attractions that may not appeal to all guests to ensure the best entrance fee. Warwick Castle is privately funded and relies on footfall and fees to maintain and renovate the substantial buildings and grounds, and significant investment has been made to ensure that the estate can be enjoyed today and into the future. We hope the aspects you mentioned didn’t detract too much from your visit and can only apologise for the car parking issues as they were full to capacity for most of the day Thank you for taking the time to review our attraction Warwick castle team

Visited the Christmas Light trail only as the Castle interiors were closed due to COVID restrictions (and I have been inside the Castle several times before.) I’m surprised to read some of the other less positive reviews on this site as I thought the light trail was very effective and reasonable value for money. It is obviously all outdoors due to the current circumstances. The theming and the music and narration is less obviously ‘Christmassy’ (no Santa’s and Elves) but much more appropriate for a Castle setting that will have witnessed more traditional Christmas celebrations over the centuries. There is a Medieval theme in places with lit tents and wooden ‘thrones’ for people to sit and take photos, The coloured lighting on the outside of the rear of the main castle building and the Boathouse across the lake were beautiful. The Christmas trees are simply lit in white lights but more effective for it in my opinion. Anyone expecting the usual Santas, Snowmen and the like may be slightly disappointed and I suspect the trail may appeal more to adults than young children, but I was pleased that the organisers chose to do something a little different and in keeping with the Castle.

We arrived later on in the day, due to traffic and the fact that we go regularly, and this was a massive mistake. We pulled up and were told the car park was full. This was absolutely ridiculous-how, if the admission is online booking only, were there not enough car parking spaces to entirely accommodate the guests? This was a major disappointment. We were informed rapidly to park elsewhere in the town.

Another negative, I highly recommend bringing your own food if you can. It was around £7 for a kids sandwich meal, which did include a fair amount of food: sandwiches, drink, apple, popcorn, but it was expensive. The availability of these was also very limited. There are limited food outlets open currently due to the pandemic situation, and overall limited food availability too.

Those two points, especially the the car parking situation, is the reason for my 4* review.

Moving on from the negatives, the day was enjoyable. Staff were so lovely and friendly, especially several ladies in the castle. They all were really talkative and knowledgeable. Especially loved the Earl of Warwick actor who was walking around!

Falconer's Quest, which is the falconry show, was, as always, very good. Parties are sat in a box, distanced from others and instructed not to leave it. When the show is finished, parties are told to leave row by row. We enjoyed this and felt comfortable in the boxes.

Overall, the day was a lot of fun. We will be returning soon!

We are pleased to hear that overall your day was a success, and thank you for mentioning the friendly staff and engaging characters. Unfortunately we have limited land available for parking at the Castle as the river is on one side and Warwick Town is built up against the castle walls on the other side. The main carpark can therefore fill up on busy days. We try to open an overflow field when possible but on some days this is unavailable and we are sorry that you were impacted by this. In practice the town car parks that we recommend as alternatives are a similar walk to the entrance as our overflow field (15 to 20 minutes). Thank you for your review, your feedback is really important to us and allows us to make improvements.

A fantastic day out on a wet February day during half term.
We ventured out despite the weather as we were in the area.
We had our 2 children aged 5 and 3 with us and were very impressed with how much there was to do, even in the bad weather.
Both loved looking around the great hall and adjoining rooms, the princess castle and the maze.
We didn’t manage to catch the bird show but we saw some of the archery demos happening.
There is loads to do and we would definitely come back, probably in the summer time though!
Only complaint is the size of the cafe, there are several places to eat but most are outside. The pizza buffet looked good but we wanted something lighter and the courtyard cafe was the only indoor option, it was heaving and we had to wait a long time to sit down, not good for impatient hungry children. I can imagine it wouldn’t be a problem on a dry day as there are loads of outdoor eating options!

We’re thrilled to read that you had such an interesting visit to Warwick Castle and enjoyed all of the shows and displays available. Warwick Castle has over 1100 years of history and we try to keep it interesting for all ages though our talks and tours, displays and interactive attractions such as the Kingmaker and Time Tower and we’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed them! We are sorry to hear that your experience with our food options was distressing with your young children. As we have limited space on site it is a challenge to tackle rainy days but we appreciate the fact that you understood this. Thank you for taking the time to review our attraction, we hope to welcome you back again soon!

We have just got back from a day out at the castle and have really enjoyed ourselves. We travelled by train so got 1 free adult ticket when we produced the voucher from the train station. The castle is about 10/15 minutes walk from the station.
Lots to see and do. It was very quiet today and we had plenty of time to stop and read things and have a really good look around. I have been before about 18 years ago in the summer holidays and it was far busier but still enjoyable. A great day out for all the family and we are all tired out from all the walking and all the steps! Be warned the indoor bit of the castle and the turret walks are not buggy friendly so use a baby carrier or ask to borrow a hip seat from the Great Hall and leave the buggy outside. If you stay outside with kids in a buggy you’ll miss an awful lot indoors. We didn’t do the dungeon experience as our kids are too young but we heard others saying it was excellent.
