The Southern Stratford canal was the first to be restored by volunteers – a tremendous achievement. Unfortunately, it was then given to the National Trust who neglected it. BW and the Canals and Rivers Trust keep it open, but only just, it seems. Pleasant to...More

How can you not take in a visit to the canal. One of the best in the UK. Lots to do and see and most of it is free. Definitely a must see if you are staying for a few days.

We also did a city tour which enabled us to catch all the sights and choose which to visit in the future.

This is an ideal location for a pleasant stroll at any time of year, with the wealth of history that surrounds the canal. Always the wildlife to watch too!

A gentle cruise up the canal, reasonably priced for these days, just need cushions on the very hard seats which make it difficult to relax !

We spent a weekend day in the city The canal boat tour was great, the view is just gorgeous! The market is very touristic but it’s still nice to go through the different kiosks Could easily spend the day with kids!

We walked along the canal many times at different times of the day, we found our evening walk very peaceful too :-) There are benches to sit on and take in the views including the ducklings following their parents along the canal bank.

Take a walk along the canal or for just £6 you can ride on a boat for 40mins. Lots to see, ice creams, amusements, ducks and parks on the way. Well worth spending some time down along the canal.
