About
The Grainger Market is a traditional style covered Market of 123 shops, built in 1835 it is Grade I Listed. It has a huge variety of traditional fresh meat/poultry/fish/bakery/fruit + veg/cheese and deli's that rub alongside great street food from all around the world. Quirky specialist shops selling everything from vintage/retro/geeky goods to make and mend haberdashers/wool/crafts/fabrics. From Marks and Spencers Original Penny Bazaar to Robinsons Famous Pet Store and the one and only Scorpio Shoes. We host Saturday Fairs, food and history tours, plus a free entertainment programme for families in the summer school holidays. Its a great place to visit for real customer service and some canny Geordie banter whilst sitting at one of the cafe's and lots of local businesses waiting to welcome you.

Really enjoyed visiting the indoor Grainger Market which is a covered Market of over 100 shops. It had a great selection of stalls and plenty of places to eat or drink.

We had a walk through the market at christmas time. The market is filled with tradional market stalls such as butchers, clothes, food etc. Almost like stepping back in time. Very busy.

Always worth a visit, the market has improved massively over recent years. There are lots of food outlets, independent stalls, all working hard to make money. Watch out for the Sock Factory, though, (No. 63, Alley 2). I liked a winter hat (no price shown), tried it on, owner then said £30. I can't believe I was duped into paying so much given that when I Googled it later you can buy it for under £10. He should have charged maybe £15-18 at the most...a fair price. Just watch out for him...the Sock Factory...if I can stop others from being duped...cheers!

My wife and I visited the "fresh fish" counter and purchased crab, crab claws and shell on prawn.
The crab and crab claws were awful. We haven't tried the "frozen" shell on prawn.
Note to the owners, do not have a fresh fish counter that sells "frozen" produce. I've been going there for years so this is not a knee jerk reaction. It's no wonder the fabulous Grainger Market is now nearly fast food places. The "Fresh Fish" in future will be purchased elsewhere.

This is a must see on any tourist visit to Newcastle. We had a wander through the market on the way to meet our niece. There are so many interesting independent businesses here.

Have been here lots of times but now the scaffolding is down you can enjoy an original stroll around enjoying the diverse stores and atmosphere within stunning architecture. Took lots of lovely photos and it still remains a happy place in the Toon.

Really interesting historical market. Food stalls, traditional cafes selling scones and crumpets, butchers, fishmongers, electrical appliances, clothes stalls. Loved the authenticity of this place. It led us on to the nearby arcade also worth checking out and the Laing art gallery. Tried sausage rolls here and tea which were excellent. Recommended.

I love Grainger Market.
A proper vibrant old fashioned traditional market with loads of Fruit sellers/butchers/fishmongers/food venues/coffee experts/clothes and even a brewery shop where you can sit and have a beer and/or buy some good ales.etc etc plus loads more.
Lots of '' international street food venues '' plus Brit food cofes.
Always busy, just great and always worth a visit when in Newcastle.
