At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

I first went to the Tyneside about 30 years ago when I was working in NCle city centre. Its coffee room with wonderful atmosphere was a popular spot for coffee or lunch. I can't believe that we are still lucky enough to have it - and if you haven't been in the past, you really must go. Many people I... More

We went to see It's a Wonderful Life in December. It was nice to get there early in the bar area to a have a drink or two plus we were able to get Mulled wine and mince pies, so that was a good start to the evening. The cinema where the film was, was on a couple of floors... More

One of the jewels of Newcastle. the place is an absolute gem. as with most cinemas sunny days are best spent outside but in cooler or wet weather it is an absolute belter.

Every year my friend and I go to see It's a Wonderful Life at the Tyneside Cinema. You can pre-book your seats and get to sit wherever is best for you. The seats and big and comfortable, you can take your drinks into the cinema and both the decor and the atmosphere is lovely. This is now an annual tradition... More

The Tyneside cinema is in such a good location just before you head into Northumberland Street. Apart from really good films in smaller setting than the big chain cinemas, there is also a very good coffee shop serving a high standard of food and drink its always busy! You can get really good gift vouchers which make ideal gifts.

We don't go to the Tyneside nearly enough. Every time we go we promise to come more often. Life often gets in the way but it is far and away the best place to enjoy film in Newcastle. The staff are friendly and informative, the programme is always interesting and it is a beautiful building bang in the centre. Comprising... More

I love visiting the character-filled Tyneside Cinema which is a wonderful treat for all the senses. The welcoming and helpful staff guide you through seat and performance selection at the best price for your pocket with great aplomb. The bar by the foyer is busy and comfortable and again, nothing is too much trouble from finding you a table to... More
