At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

Fantastic range of events and diverse choice of films to view. Staff always great and there’s also a really good choice of food and drinks. Definitely my favourite place to watch a film in the north east.

Not having been to this cinema for many years, I'd forgotten what a little gem it is. I say little, but it does have four screens. Having sipped our drinks in their busy bar, we went straight to the 4th floor to see Murder on...More

Our Investment club thought we would try here for lunch and our quarterly meeting. It was too busy, too cramped and too noisy to be able to have a conversation. Service was prompt but that didn't make up for the fact six of us were...More

Hello, we’re sorry to hear about your disappointing business lunch. The Coffee Rooms is a much loved, much used cafe, and the busy, lively and welcoming atmosphere is part of what people love about it. You could always try Tyneside Bar Café downstairs, which people...More

We had booked for Death of Stalin as a tea time showing that was more or less sold out. The booking experience was very good - after trouble getting the web site to work I emailed and got a call back the same day to...More

Remember all the cigar wielding Groucho look alikes exiting the cinema in the early seventies following a late night Marx brothers showing. The screening of Yoll from Turkey. The Magic Flute by Bergman, some of the millions of memories in this classic cinema. This community...More

We go regularly to the Tyneside, it has a lovely atmosphere and the seating is very comfortable, particularly in terms of leg room. A regular attraction in the winter is the Sunday afternoon Bolshoi Ballet programme, either recorded or live, which has spectacular scenery, huge...More

Went to see It's A Wonderful Life last Christmas and the room was just lovely. This was the first time I had ever been but have been back a few times since then.

Traditional cinema with great cafe and bar areas, range of screens and generally quirky and cool atmosphere. Staff are always really helpful and the selection of films is refreshingly different to the mainstream cinemas. The yearly trip to see “It’s a wonderful life” has become...More

I have been going to the Tyneside cinema since 1975! It shows good films that you can’t see anywhere else nearby. There are 2 bars on the ground floor, one serves food. The Tyneside Coffee Rooms on 2nd floor are an institution,a handy place to...More
