At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

A comfortable modern cinema which is housed in an elegant Art Deco building. It offers an exciting and intelligent selection of films both old and new throughout the year. We in Newcastle are very fortunate to be able to have such a cultural gem in our midst.

I've been enjoying watching films, drinking with friends in the street level coffee house, and eating tea in the upper floor cafe at the Tyneside Cinema for many years now.Great atmosphere at all levels, including cinema intimacy - by that I mean spacious, yet sufficiently small to feel the viewing is just for you plus friends, rather than the impersonal... My partner has a wheelchair, yet we had no problems getting to our upper seats via a neat little lift. The chairs are oversized and comfortable. The staff are amazing so if he wanted to stay in the wheelchair they glided the seat out with ease or they come over and made sure the chair was in a comfortable position.... More

Always a very civilised place in which to see a film. Comfortable seats, lovely surroundings. A wide variety of films is always available, in different size rooms, and it is best to book in advance. A lovely building which has been sensitively updated. Some interesting historical information on display, with short recordings too of local interest.

The Tyneside Cinema is by far the best way to view a movie on a big screen. The seats are very comfortable, each individual cinema room is not oversized, the usual clientele tend to be a more adult viewer (not so much of the mobile phone beeps, etc).

First came many many years when this was just a News Theatre. Now has been totally modernised with the latest equipment but still retains its old world charm. Comfy seats, friendly staff, great atmosphere.

Always regarded as the small, traditional cinema in Newcastle. .. that's exactly what it is. Originally showing classic old films then more recently, current offerings, this cinema has the feel of days gone by, does not cater for a huge amount of people but retains that authentic feel. Totally the opposite to today's multi-screen cinemas with a small confectionary area... More
