We are lucky to have this gem in our city. It gets some fantastic exhibitions from the national venues, but it's small enough to feel manageable. Friends say the cafe is quite good but I've not tried it for years, so I don't know.

Nice venue with cafe, the permanent exhibitions give a really good insight into the history of Newcastle: its belated fishing community in Cullercoats, and the former industrial landscape along the Tyne. Laing is simply put, brilliant! The permanent exhibition is free and worth seeing while they always host some really interesting guest ones! You should definitely pop in if you are visiting Newcastle!
