Visited a few times now with my good lady. We are fairly unpretentious art nitwits. We love this gallery so much, When you get home and are still talking for a long time about what you have seen ....that is the best thing I can...More

Worth only an hour at best. We did not even spend that much time here as two of the galleries were closed due to new installations being prepared, so there was little to visit. How about closing one at a time?

Wonderful just dropping in or staying awhile. Gallery very strong on pre-Raphealites, including Rossetti and Holman Hunt plus popular local artist George Hedly. Gallery on Newcastle is very good and has a range of special exhibitions (often requiring entry fee) through the year

setting aside some time to visit this gallery it is a favourite way to spend some chill out time for us. A fabulous collection of art and even more so when there is an exhibition on and lots to see about the history of Newcastle....More

I am an art lover so thought it appropriate to visit the Laing Art Gallery while visiting Newcastle. The collections are interesting, lots of art from the North East here, but I found it a bit underwhelming. The room downstairs with the North East art...More

This is a really nice, airy, modernized gallery in the centre of Newcastle, but I found the whole experience disappointing as a one-off visit whilst on holiday. There was only one room used for the core collection, which did contain some lovely pre-Raphaelite paintings, but...More

We often call in at the Laing when we are in Newcastle. The water colours, works by local artists and the Pre-Raphaelite paintings are an uplifting treat after trekking round the shops! Good refreshment facilities and shop too. It's also good that they welcome youngsters...More

A smaller inner city gallery. Not too daunting and som accessible art. Cafe a bit monopolised by grannies and some exhibits you have to pay for. Otherwise free and useful to add to a Newcastle day trip

The gallery was a warm, welcoming and dry space on a wet day in the Easter holidays. The highlights for me were the impressive Victorian masterpieces, and then the contrast provided by the Sean Scully pieces.More
