This little gallery in the heart of Newcastle is definitely worth a visit, they have a beautiful display of classic art from the local area which is well worth seeing and very informative. I enjoyed listening to recorded voices of local people story telling of times gone by and it was also refreshing to see children enjoying the gallery and... More

It's good for a free gallery, but very small. Has a nice little cafe in it though with reasonable prices and toilets were nice and clean.

Popped in for a quick 15 minute visit and was surprised at the local interest it showed. I wasn't aware that it had so much Geordie culture within; and although art galleries don't usually interest me much, I'm pretty sure I will find time for another visit this year.

The Laing art gallery used to be almost totally free to visit. No more. We did not feel like paying £7 to see "Out of Chaos" temporary exhibition which appeared from the publicity to be a display of modern daubs. This takes up so much space that only one small gallery is left to see upstairs. There is always "Northern... More

We called in to look at the exhibitions in prior to our wedding in August. I love this gallery, stunning setting for our wedding. We really enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland exhibition and didn't mind the fee as it all goes into running the rest of the gallery which is open to the public for free. Our wedding in August... More

It's quite a nice gallery to walk around, but it doesn't have an extensive collection. We enjoyed it, but there isn't enough to return to.

Went for a look around the laying while conversing after surgery, been a number of times and always enjoyed my time there. The only downside is that some of the exhibits require an entrance fee which I find disappointing. However the visit was still enjoyable but the paid for exhibit was a bit disappointing especially as was a paid for... More

Interesting building, some recent and some 19th Century details in the building itself, not too big. Local collections are free to visit but quite small. Some excellent John Martin pieces and a couple of impressionist and good pre-raphaelites, but not a huge display Watercolour gallery has examples of the 'grand tour' era, but dont be excited about there being a...
