This is a brilliant Museum but there are two complaints, lockers are charged at £1. per entry so if you need access to your coat or bag after locking them in you have to repay. Asked Reception if they would allow free re-access but refused....More

my son is 8 and my daughter is 5. to be honest the 8 year was more suited to this my daughter found it to be boring and maybe not enough for her but for 8 plus its ideal as a cheap day out

A lovely museum with engaging exhibits. I went on my own, but would be very good for children too. One problem I found was that the Ancient Greek vases were displayed too low to view many of them and the lighting was too dim also....More

We visited mainly to see the exhibitions on Hadrian's wall. Good selection of other themed exhibits.

Visited late morning on a Sunday when there were few other visitors. Were amazed to view the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greek and Anglo- Saxon sections as well as the expected Hadrian's wall/Roman exhibits. Great way to spend an hour. Free...More
