Today we took our 5 year old daughter for a walk around the museum. Couldn't actually fault the displays, facts and info. I would definitely recommend a visit and I would go back. Downside... we decided at 16:50 to head for the exit as we...More

The Hancock Museum is a 5 minute walk from a public carpark (Claremont Road) Great place to take youngsters on a rainy day. Free entry but £5.00 donation is advised but not enforced. Fun and educational. Not great if you're offended by taxidermy. Tearoom, giftshop....More

Some fantastic historical displays very polite staff an all round good, cheap day out; especially if you have children. Parking isn’t an issue also

On a very wet day this is a handy place to visit for an hour or two. It’s near the Haymarket Metro station, just a 10 minute walk from there. It’s probably best suited for children, many of whom were obviously enjoying themslves searching for...More

We came here because we love museums and we were pleasantly surprised. I loved the amount of detail in the dinosaur exhibit! The journey to the after life was something I have never seen before and I loved it. I liked seeing all the different...More

Visited yesterday (25 September) very interesting and informative, but was completely spoilt by a group of school children allowed to scream and run riot by their teachers. We were on the ground floor, they were on the first floor and we could hear them, imagine...More

One of the free museums in Newcastle, in a good easy to find location, in the city centre with plenty of other things near by to make a day of it. There's a lawn in front & seats around the edge, free entry & Newcastle...More

Lots of really varied and interesting exhibits, we spent a good amount of time wandering around. Wasn't too busy despite the schools being off. Big plus for me was that there was a good amount of seating dotted about (I have joint problems) which meant...More

Thanks for the 5-star review and great feedback. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your visit and hope that you will visit us again in the future. Best wishes, Caroline McDonald, Museum Manager

I found the Egyptian, ancient Greeks and Romans exhibits most interesting but the majority easy to pass by as a sole adult. A bit too many kids for my liking but good for a rainy day as it was. Free to enter.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We hope that you will visit us again in the future - after 3pm is a great time to experience the museum when it's a bit quieter. Best wishes, Caroline McDonald, Museum Manager

A good free museum with lots of different displays. However, curation is weird - trying to follow a theme can be difficult, as you move from e.g. fossils through to space exploration within the same set of displays. It’s a minor gripe, though - the...More

Thanks for the 4-star review Clive. We took a bold and experimental curatorial approach for our show Which Way North this summer. The spirit was 'museum takeover'. We wanted it to feel as though a new museum was trying to break through the existing one...More
