I've taken 20-30 cubs here on 3 different occasions. The volunteers are very informative and the young people learn so much about a time that they haven't experienced.

We were surprised that this is a top rated attraction in Guildford. It's great that the small fragment of the building has been preserved - but all too little to make a particularly interesting visit. I hesitate to criticise an museum maintained by enthusiastic volunteers,...More

Thank you for visiting the Spike and your rating of Average. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your tour as much as the majority of our visitors. The spike is a building in its own right, and not part of the main workhouse....More

The original casual paupers' cells and an excellent museum showing how the workhouse became a war hospital. Lots to see and learn. Good place to take children.

We visited with a friend from Northern Ireland on a baking hot Saturday lunchtime. We spent over two hours at this fascinating building. Our tour was split between two volunteers. Derek did the bulk of it and he was so interesting to talk to: informative,...More

Thank you, Dennis, for a fascinating tour of The Spike. Your tour was unhurried and full of fascinating information about the struggles of poor people in the not-so-distant past. In the film we were made aware that poverty and homelessness might just be one event...More

The Spike Heritage Center was incredibly interesting, and our docents, David and T-Jay, offered such an engaging tour--it was an exceptional experience!

I have been lucky enough to visit the spike on a number of occasions, when taking family who trained as nurses at st Luke's Guildford. Three sisters all trained here and none knew this relic of the past existed, just yards away from where they...More

We just turned up and joined a tour. We didn’t need to book. Perhaps if you are a large party it might help to call ahead.
