Only open Tuesdays & Saturdays. There is free parking, but we had to wait 15 minutes, as a delivery lorry had blocked the available spaces. Wear your thermals in cold weather! You ring a bell and wait in an outbuilding for a guide to come...More

Thank you very much for your super feedback. It might be a gruesome history but at times the alternative to the Spike was far worse! Hope you come again,

Thank you for your excellent review, although it wouldn't have given you much information for your family history research, the Spike certainly would have enabled you to appreciate the challenges facing people 100+ years ago, why they were so grateful for work and a place...More

Visited on a heritage day and found it very interesting and educational. The guide was excellent and well informed regarding the history of the building both as a workhouse and it's later use as part of a hospital.

We just turned up and joined a tour. We didn’t need to book. Perhaps if you are a large party it might help to call ahead.
