Excellent walk!!

For the fit but a lovely walk. Great views of the local area and a cafe near the top for a warm cuppa!

expecting to have to climb up steep slopes so was very surprised to find some very flat trails which were still a good walk. Bit foggy when we went but cleared up after an hour or so gor some beautiful winter sunshine.

Pleased that the national trust walking routes were left for walkers with only the odd cyclist to avoid as they stuck to the roads mostly. A lot of steps to walk up to get to the top 270 ish but not a particularly strenuous walk. Stepping stones weren't visible when we went but the bridge over the river is only... More

very scenic drive via Headley over Box Hill. Good car park facilities, nice café, good viewpoint, narrow roads with lots of cyclists, beautiful autumn colours. best to visit on a weekday when its not too busy

We go up Box Hill all the time (we live at the foot) because we love the view looking over Dorking and Brockham and towards the South Downs and the coast. It can get pretty jammed in summer but it's the most awesome place for a picnic, or a walk in colder weather. My only bug bear is the £4... More

It is many decades since last climbing Box Hill, this time bringing younger members of the family for the first time. (Staying at Burford Bridge Hotel) 12 people with an age range from 6- 70. The weather was perfect (22.10.16) and we were most impressed with all the facilities now available at the top. The nature trail was superb and... More

This is a very steep hill, which is fine by car, but any other method would require considerable fitness

Great walks, kids, dog and in-laws love it. 1) Our top tip is park at Rykers café near the Burford Bridge hotel, its free (currently) but make sure you leave before the café closes or your car will get locked in...it was closing at 6pm the day we went for our walk so it wasn't a problem for us. 2)... I am biased about the excellence of this bit of countryside so close to the City because I have lived here for more than twenty years but the number of visitors we get suggests that many non- residents find it enchanting as well.

Although the views from the top are spectacular we did find this particular walk much more challenging then imagined. Not for the unfit or faint hearted. The 275 steps down were very steep in places . Making our way back up past the Burford Bridge hotel we thought we had gone the wrong way as the "hill" was so steep... More
