Stunning wooden ceiling. Also some green men in the stained glass windows and a tiny circle of three hares (as commonly seen in Devon churches). The lady chapel is also well worth a visit, again some beautiful wood carvings in the ceiling. A lovely chap gave us some info on the history as he was locking up - closes at... More

I live locally and visited the church on a jaunt into Melford across the water meadows. The church is spectacular having survived over 400 years in spite of two major fires, there are many very interesting things to see and the floor brasses are beautiful. Just wandering around in the peace of the church is a tonic for the soul.... More

Well worth a visit? The church is the largest church that isn't a cathedral. Lady chapel adds to the already impressive church with beautiful stained glass- learn about the story behind the scenes in the glass.

The local church was the center of village life. Trinity Church in Long Melford offers a beautiful example of village history. The bell tower records when the bells were peeled in the village. You can see the side chapel where the Lepers prayed.

This is a very friendly church with excellent facilities for children so that they too can take part in service.

We spent the day in Long Melford not too long ago. The church has a great history with some neat stories about the stained glass. The portrait of Elizabeth, Duchess of Norfolk is said to have been the inspiration for John Tenneil's Duchess in his drawings for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Make sure to check out the Lady Chapel... More

The old stained glass is the glory of this church, of special interest is the tiny roundel of the 3 hares and the lady who looks like Lewis Carroll's Duchess. There is an alabaster relief of the Adoration of the Magi that a hidden for many years. Many tombs and memorials with interesting stories. The Lady Chapel is a very... More

Holy Trinity Church is unusual for a village parish church. The church dates from the reign of Edward the Confessor; it was then substantially rebuilt between 1467 and 1497 by John Clopton of Kentwell Hall. It is one of the richest "wool churches" in East Anglia and is renowned for its flushwork, Clopton chantry chapel and the Lady Chapel at... More

Stunning. Standing above the town of long melford, well worth the 10 minutes walk. My only disappointment was, we visited on 11/11/16 at 11.15am. The War memorial is as you enter the church gates but, there were only two small wooden crosses with poppies .The lady in the church told me the memorial service would take place on Rememberance Sunday....
