Very interesting and informative. The guides certainly know their stuff. But then, this is what we have come to expect from National Trust volunteers?

This is a very well preserved and impressive mediaeval timber framed building, housing interesting contents, and a very good history of Lavenham in the cellar. It is a great introduction to the town, prior to taking a walk around. The staff are very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful. There is also a tea room, and rear garden with a few plants... Fabulous historic building overlooking the Market Place. The N.Trust guides are very knowledgeable and helpful.Leave plenty of time to take in everything which this building has been used for since the 1500's and to view the various exhibits. There is a tea room and a small shop.Check closing times as these are no later than 5.p.m.

The staff here were knowledgeable and friendly. One of the stewards clued me on on the origins of several phrases- money for old rope, taking the piss, died in the wool! I love trivia like this. And the cat! Apotropaic. Go find out what that word means. Well laid out, well though out. Information that was useful and consise and... More

After parking the car in the High Street,we took a slow walk up Water Street which lead us to the beautiful Market Place, perhaps the prettiest market square i have ever visited to date. After passing a couple of specialist shops as well as a pub,we stopped and briefly visited this beautiful building which has a tearoom and a small garden. This property... Always a lovely place to visit but especially when they have weaving demonstrations etc. This Guildhall was the centre of the wool industry way back when Suffolk was very prosperous. The Guildhall gives historic guidance through those times.

The Guildhall building is just one of more than 300 beautifully restored and preserved historical buildings in the small town of Lavenham. Called one of the finest timber-framed buildings in Britain, it was built around 1530 by the Guild of Corpus Christi, a religious organisation of local merchants. The building was home to the Lavenham council during the 17th century... More
