Hidden gem of Norman church set right on the High Street. Not always open but take the opportunity of viewing this beautiful building when it is.

St.Chad 's church is set back off the main street almost hidden from view opposite the Swan Hotel. I went with a group of ladies and we had a guided tour and learnt all about the changes which had happened over the many years.

This is a small but very interesting active church, obviously well loved by the congregants who guide you round. It is the oldest building in Stafford dating back to the Normans and that architecture is clearly visible inside. There are also some fascinating carvings which...More

This stunning Church is one of the most quiet and peaceful I’ve ever been in. I wanted never to leave, and felt silenced by its atmosphere. I could imagine people singing Gregorian chant, singing etc. The organ sounds so resonant, loud, fills the entire church.

We were fascinated to learn the wonderful ancient carvings were rediscovered so recently. It was interesting to see how this church has evolved and been saved since its creation in the 12th century. The docents showing us around were devout and delightful.

This really old church is full of incredible carvings. Well worth a visit as it is very unusual. We were lucky enough to be in Stafford when they had an open day with a guided tour.

St. Chad's is a beautiful historic church, I believe it's Stafford's Oldest. My Grandparents got married here. It's a beautiful building on the high street.

I was just passing St chads in the middle of Stafford when I saw a notice outside saying it was open and actually went in to get out of the rain. I was amazed to discover it wasn't just a Victorian chapel but it was...More
