Donation requested, good leaflet. Ceiling repainted in colours found from fragments. Victorian renovation found broken statues and Jacobs tree covered over in Henry VIII church reforms. Broken pieces have fresh paint and gold protected from light for 500+ years, being researched in Wells Museum. Church...More

... and they have the magnificent cathedral too! We had not dropped in here on our previous visits to Wells, even though it is very close to our favourite coffee shop there. Well we remedied that on our latest diversion to Wells (primarily for coffee...More

Visited this church only because we were wandering town to see all the sites related to Hot Fuzz. Had it not been for that we would have really missed out on something special. Just beautiful, and not busy as most of the tourists stuck near...More

This really is a beautiful church and I can quite see why so many visitors mistake it for the cathedral. It is bright airy and welcoming with a feeling of calm and reflection. Don't forget it featured heavily in the wonderful film "Hot Fuzz"!

We called in on our way to Wells cathedral, having found a parking place outside. Spacious and light, with fabulous wooden ceilings and lots of really interesting monuments. Very successful integration of modern additions in a fascinating old church. Actually preferred it to the cathedral.

Well worth dropping in to see this medieval masterpiece. For such a small place Wells has two first-rate churches. On this occasion I didn't look round but enjoyed a coffee in the nave!

I believe this church has the tallest tower of any church in England. It is an incredibly large building for a Parish Church and thus easily mistaken for the Cathedral. Many of my ancestors were either baptised, married, or buried here 150-190 years ago, hence...More

Called in last week and this church has an amazing ceiling and stained glass windows. Inside it has both traditional and modern areas.

It's worth visiting this church just for the two reredoses which were uncovered after being hidden for many years. The Jesse one has two poems pinned up in its honour. The ceiling is also pretty amazing . .
