We walked down from the car park intending to do a short walk but decided to continue up the gorge to see what it was like. When we got to the very steep rocky scramble we decided to turn back as we had our very energetic dog with us and it was very wet and slippery. So we went back... More

It can be quite a climb but when you arrive the views are worth it, there are a few different ways of getting there my best advice is to take your time, it can also be a bit slippery and wet underfoot at times. If you have children don't let them stray to far there are some steep drops some... More

If you physically can this is worth the climb - climb all the way to the top of the gorge and admire the views and then enjoy the walk down - it is a scramble going up for part of the way and there are several steps - worse for us as it was very wet and therefore slippery -... More

There are two ways to get up and enjoy the fantastic views from cliff top. The one we chose was slightly hairy as it had rained heavily the day before and tree cover had not allowed rocks to dry out and were therefore a bit slippery. The majority of the walk was no problem but the hairy bit is the... More

The medips AONB website has a moderate walk that takes in the gorge toward the end so you approach from the range having seen the huge views levels and lots of Somerset/Devon. You come out on the viewpoint which is an outcrop in the gorge - it's a bit of shock - not for those with a fear of heights... More

stunning views but an almighty trek to get there. not for those who are not very mobile, lots of down hill steps into the gorge then slippery rocks and narrow paths to get up the other side.

As any gorge in the wood, it is unexpected. Whether you go left (a climb a tortuous path) or right (stairs...) go to the cliff that you will discover in a dead-end (on your left from the stairs, straight ahead from the other path). It is marvellous. I Higly recommend it for a 1 to 2 hours trip.

You can park in the free car park just up the road from Wookey Hole for a circular walk to the gorge and back which takes only an hour - or you can lengthen the walk by doing a circular from Wookey Hole itself. We found the gorge easy to walk but would imagine it the gorge part itself could... More
