White Spring Well & Temple
White Spring Well & Temple

About
Cavernous and set apart, in blackness or candle lit, mysterious it remains. A wonderful contrast to the sunlit gardens of Chalice Well of the Red Spring. The interior consists of three domed vaults 16ft high, with beautiful bowed floors - like the hull of a boat moored at the portal to the Otherworld. With it's constant temperature, and the sound of the perpetually flowing water, it is a unique and sacred space. Please be aware that people often bathe naked here, and we have a no photography policy. Many groups, pilgrims, and local people - from a wide diversity of backgrounds and traditions - have come to appreciate the blessings of this sacred space. So do come and enjoy the White Spring during our normal opening hours or at our regular ceremonies and meditations. We gather together to celebrate the turning of the seasons and at the full moon. Private visits and ceremonies, including baptisms and ceremonial bathing may be possible by arrangement. In keeping with the sense of sacred at the White Spring there is no charge or expectation of donation, neither is anyone paid. People often make a contribution to the White Spring for the upkeep costs and to keep access free for all. Please consider making a financial contribution if you are able to, all contributions are welcomed, but never expected.

    Love this place💜
Smaller than I thought it would be ,but very tranquil and I enjoyed my visit. I would definitely return. Could I make a suggestion.....having some steps down in to the centre pool, as a disabled guest with crutches and mobility issues I really wanted to get in the pool for a healing session but couldn't lower myself in to the pool as I have no stregth in my legs. This would help alot of disabled guests ☺️🙏💜

    Beautiful Spiritual Place
What a beautiful, spiritual place, I just loved it😍😍 I have been watching the live feed for a while when I can't sleep at night and have been so drawn to visit in person. Finally got here on Saturday and it was amazing, the candle lighting makes it even more special. It was quite busy when we came so sat and meditated for a short time and washed my crystals and legs but will definitely be back hopefully to have a cleansing dip next weekend. So amazing that this place is free 💗

    A Magical Place
I have been visiting the White Spring Well on and off for 20+ years and seen it transform into many different forms. I was pleasantly surprised to enter this time and find a place of peace and worship. A must visit if you are more spiritually natured and in the area.

    Breathtaking Spiritual Atmosphere by Candlelight
No entry fee to what is a breathtaking spiritual place. You can drink and bathe in the pool by candlelight. You can leave offerings, have group meetings, sit in quiet contemplation, or leave a donation IF you choose. There is no pressure. The atmosphere is indescribable. No photography inside as some people bathe naked. If you have a container, there is a place to fill it for free outside the Temple, by the road.

    This wonderful place
I’ve been visiting Glastonbury fairly regularly since the mid eighties, the White Spring was never really a pull for me, we entered it once and found the place to be quite unwelcoming there was a small cafe and a couple of stalls selling trinkets, the atmosphere was dark and dingy, we never returned. Moving on forward a couple of decades I revisited, the place had changed, the vibe was still a little edgy the cafe had gone and a couple alters set up, I was carrying a camera and was brusquely informed that that was forbidden. I guess it was early days into the transformation into what we have now. I didn’t return until I was drawn back on Beltane 2022. My word what a change in the intervening years. I couldn’t believe the (gonna use that word again!) transformation the latest guardians have achieved, they’ve somehow miraculously created a place a wonderful safe place where anybody can feel at ease at their very most vulnerable, be that naked, practicing their own sacred rites, or learning new spiritual pathways. I can’t tell you how much I love this place, the people who volunteer their time to run it and the people who revere it. This place is special.

    Romantic relaxing spot
This is a lovely little temple, it’s very peaceful lit by candle light. No phones allowed in this spot as it’s known to be a religious site and there’s also sometimes people bathing without clothes on so be aware of that if taking children. It’s such a relaxing spot and I could sit in here all day if I could, highly recommend for couples as it feels to be quite a romantic spot.

Zen Time after walk up the Tor
Just at the bottom of Glastonbury Tor is the White Spring. Very relaxing place, but hours open are quite short so if you want to visit check the times. If you are going up the Tor or visiting White Spring or Chalice Well parking can be quite hard but over the road R J Draper & Co Ltd let you park for a small fee.

    wow
It was the first time here and was aware of the temple and what you can see/do. I also asked the volunteer at the door about what the place is about who did mention there could be nudity however everyone is welcomed to experience it how they wish. After a walk around inside I wanted to get in but wasn't brave enough. a gentleman was getting dressed after taking the plunge in his natural state, I waited till he was dressed and asked if he minded me asking him about it. he was open and kind then left me to it and after the chat I decided to get in with undies on! I wasn't in long as the cold is like an electric shock! but my god I felt amazing after so much so that I convinced my partner to do it with me the next day ( by the way which is totally out of his comfort zone) yes there was people clothed but also naked but if you go for your own experience this just melts into the background. Also a tip on entering let your eyes adjust as very dark and wet under foot. I can only end by saying you only live once just try it.

We stumbled upon this on our walk back to our campsite and it was very peaceful and moving. We didn’t realise what it was or know anything about it until we got back and researched it but it was a lovely experience and would recommend a visit if you’re passing by.

An amazing, volunteer run, spiritual place where you can bathe yor troubles away. Can be slippery under foot and is a little dark as lit by candles but worth it.

WE VISITED WHITE SPRINGS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND LOVED IT, GREAT ATMOSPHERE WITH CHANTING AND RYTHMICAL DRUMMING REVERBERATING AROUND THE CAVES YOU FEEL YOU ARE IN A VERY SPECIAL PLACE.
AFTER A WHILE OF TAKING IN THE ATMOSPHERE WE PLUCKED UP CURRAGE AND JOINED OTHERS NAKED IN THE ICE COOL POOLS SO AMAZING THAT IT JUST HAVE TO BE EXPIRIENCED IT WAS ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS YOU WISH YOU COULD BOTTLE [ WELL AT LEAST WE DID BOTTLE THE PURE CLEAN SPRING WATER AS IT FLOWED FROM A SPOUT IN THE PATIO AREA LOL]
TREAT THE DEEPER POOLS ON THE LEFT WITH CARE AS THE DEPTH VARIES AND THE EDGES OF WHERE THEY BEGIN CAN BE A LITTLE TRICKY TO NEGOTIATE IN THE DIM CANDLE LIGHT BUT THEY TOO ARE AMAZING
ON LEAVING WE STOPPED AND CHILLED IN THE WARM SUNSHINE CHATTING AND LISTENING TO PEOPLE PLAYING INSTRUMENTS ON THE PATIO AREA, WE DIDN'T WANT THE DAY TO END !
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO RUN THE SPRING AND MAKE THIS POSSIBLE . MEL 'N SUE

Back from glastonbury visited a few weeks ago, I'm in love with this place so much and a regular visitor and unfortunately on past visits i have wanted to visit white springs but it was closed 😔, so I was over the moon on my last visit it was open.

This is a very spiritual place the candle light , areas to just sit and be at peace was beautiful. I honestly could of spent hours just sitting in there and was overcome with emotion and felt tearfull but not in a bad way something I've never felt before .

Now the main thing that comes up on reviews a hell of alot is NUDITY. And yes this is true people do bathe in there naked but if you read up on places before you visit we'll you should be prepared for this 🤷‍♀️. I visited with myself my husband and 14 year old son I made it clear to him what to expect and at no point did it come across to me or my husband that what people was doing in there was perverted at all. They was just being at one with themselves and you no what fair play to them for it they are not harming anybody at all and to be honest they seem so much in there own zone it's like we didn't exist to them.

So overall if you want to experience this beautiful place please do come with an open mind but be prepared yes you may come across NUDITY and if that makes you feel uncomfortable don't go
