The only remaining cheese makers in the Village of Cheddar, Somerset, UK. Passionate to preserve and protect this world famous cheese, John and Katherine Spencer and their exceptional team continue the tradition of hand-making unpasteurised cheddar cheese which they long-mature in cloth, the traditional way. With a small Visitor Centre and remarkable shop situated in the beautiful Cheddar Gorge itself, they welcome you to watch them make it, learn a little more about this heritage cheese and, of course, taste it!

For the true taste of cheddar this is the place to come. Great varieties to try, if you like cheddar that almost burns your mouth, then try the vintage, It's great. Very friendly staff, but the cheese is expensive.

Great idea allowing visitors to view the cheese making process and sample cheese. We ended up buying three cheeses which we are enjoying on our travels.

Best place to get your Cheddar made cheeses. Free tasting of a number of cheeses and chutneys. Good gifts to take back.

So interesting to see how cheese is traditionally made, can understand why cheese is still quite expensive, so labour intensive. Great choices in the shop afterwards, and loads of free sampling. The Chilli Cheese is superb, definitely recommend it, great taste and wonderful after bite...More
