Stunning historical theatre

An outstanding theatre in which to see a show. Many fascinating features, comfortable seating and cosy without being claustrophobic.

I have walked past this theatre many times, but it was only today that I actually went inside, a performance of 'The Woman in Black', the performance was outstanding, but what a charming small theatre. Easy access, helpful ushers, no queues for interval drinks, great stage views from the centre of the Royal Circle - we will be keeping an... More

Went to the Theatre Royal in Bath last Thursday afternoon to See Woman in Black, not knowing what we were in for. Having seen the film we knew the story so had an idea but unsure of quite how a ghost story would be portrayed. With only two actors, David Acton and Matthew Spencer and a ghost it was brilliant... My husband and I went to the play Trouble in Mind on saturday 19 November, it was excellent, Tanya Moodie was the lead lady, she was fantastic! In the ustinov studio we were in second row from front and it is very intimate very close to the stage, with effect of more intense experience. recommended.

Went with my partner to see Rocky Horror Picture Show as a birthday treat. The theatre is amazing. The staff are very friendly. The show was exceptional. The cast were wonderful. The Narrator of the show dealt with the ad libs brilliantly. Could not have had a better night out. Recommend to anyone.

A beautiful traditional theatre with excellent architecture and decoration. The staff are delightful, helpful and very friendly. Good bars and restaurant sitable for all tastes. The range of productions is varried and always well produced and staged. The front row of the Royal Circle is wonderful BUT only if you have short legs! There are plenty of other seats for... More

Went to the theatre to see the Opera as this was a new experience for us. A nice theatre and the production of Cavalli’s La Calisto by the English Touring Opera was a nice introduction as it was amusing and well acted and sung. Very enjoyable experience.

The actors were mainly competent, but there was a feel of overacting like in children's pantomimes (with pregnant pauses between lines, not very polished), the rest of the production overall was very poor, the story was weak and very repetitive. The last ten minutes were good, but overall the worst production I've seen at any theatre ever. On the plus... More
