Ludlow Castle is an unusually complete range of medieval buildings with a varied history evident within its walls. We are host to a number of events that run between April and November, information of which is available at the local tourist information centre and on our website.

Castle House was one of the last grand mansions built in Ludlow. It was sympathetically restored in 2006 by the current Earl of Powis and provides a range of Independent shops, Tea Rooms with an idyllic outside terrace during the summer months; function rooms that are available for civil ceremonies, weddings, parties, wakes, meetings

The 3 no. self catering apartments are available for 3, 4 and 7 night stays. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, well equipped kitchens and sitting/dining rooms and views of the castle that are unparalleled.

The Tea Room is a traditional English tea room with a glazed Courtyard, Pantry, Study and Garden Terrace. It is child and dog friendly with a welcoming and enthusiastic team, serving something for everyone. There are loose-leaf teas, cafeteria coffees, fresh juices and quality wines. A range of freshly prepared cakes and cream teas are available all day.

There is a lovely walk around the outside of the castle where you are surrounded by natural woodland and outstanding views of the castle walls, River Teme and Whitcliffe Common.

As a history buff, I loved this castle ruin. Not "touristy hokey" just a ruin, you can enjoy without gimmicks.

We stopped over in Ludlow on our way to Shropshire and decided to take our two young children to see the castle and stop for a picnic lunch. The feeling of an escape from the city was immediate and the castle itself is magnificent. Going up to the top of the stairs (we counted 97 steps) was definitely a highlight... More

Ludlow castle and grounds were amazing, ludlow its self has been untouched by modern life, shops and town are old style, takes you back to childhood. Corner fruit and veg store butcher's ,sweet shop. And the classic clothes shop

Even on a west and muddy day in March, Ludlow Castle was stunning. It's a proper defensive castle, largely ruined but with plenty of standing buildings that make it easy to imagine it in its glory days of the Mortimers. Climb lots of spiral stone stairs to the highest point and drink in the wonderful views down across the river... More

We were looking for something to do locally with our young family. We opted for the castle and weren't disappointed. Entrance fee is good value at £5 per adult. There is lots of open space once inside and there is a children's play area, albeit a fairly small one with not much to it. The castle was fun for all... More

Stayed at nearby hotel and visited the castle which was very reasonable to enter at £5.00 per person which allows you to leave and re enter on the same day .

If you are in Ludlow make sure you visit the castle. Really interesting and far more to see than we expected. The Architecture dates back to before the Norman's and it was good to see how the castle evolved through the ages. Make sure you conclude with tea and cake in the restaurant, lemon drizzle cake was divine 👍👍 Well... More
