The Cathedral is Sheffield's oldest building, the ancient heart of a great city, where God has been worshipped for over a thousand years. It has watched Sheffield grow and develop over the centuries, and it tells a story - of great women and men, of wars, of industry and commerce, and of the people who have lived in Sheffield.

Here people have prayed, made music, offered hospitality and cared for the poor, as they do still today. The building reflects its many uses, with the traditional worship spaces including the grand high altar and the quiet crypt chapel, but also the busy conference centre, and the Archer Project area where the homeless and vulnerable find what they need

Here every visitor will find something to interest them. You can book a special visit, or just call in and explore. You may find that a service is happening, in which case you can join in or not as you choose.

Everyone is invited - Sheffield Cathedral is a place for all people.

We are open every day of the year.

My wife and I visited this cathedral during our day in Sheffield City centre and both think it's one of the nicest cathedrals we've visited. We always make a point of looking inside the cathedral whenever we visit a city at home or abroad - so to say it's one of the nicest is high praise and highly recommended.

I pop in to the Cathedral regularly for quiet and prayer. Sometimes catch the evensong. Lots of history and its the church for central Sheffield. As well as liturgy and church services, the cathedral does a lot for the homeless through its Archer Project. There is a shop, toilets, hot drinks and guides to show you the interesting features.

We stopped into this church to pass a few minutes and spent an hour. The architecture, stained glass and displays area amazing. While it is a working church, you are permitted to wander almost anywhere. There is a cafe on site as well as a small shop that supports the church. The history of the cathedral is well explained b... More

Went into this cathedral to pass a few minutes and spent an hour! This is a working church that you can tour on your own when no services are being held. There are plenty of descriptive plaques explaining many of the displays. The architecture, stained glass and adornments are amazing as is the history. We are not much for touring... More

Attractively set within its open space, this cathedral has plenty for you to explore. It may not provide the unity of some other cathedrals like Durham, but there are a multitude of places and objects to explore. Start with the visitors corner, where there is a timeline, and a potted history of the Cathedral. Marvel at the tower with its... More

Sheffield's best-kept secret is its excellent cathedral choir. Hear them at their finest at the beautiful evensong service: Tuesday to Friday at 5.45 for half an hour or so. Atmospheric, harmonious and deeply moving.

A lovely, relatively small cathedral, with many fascinating features. We were fortunate to be shown round by a very friendly gentleman, Mark, who pointed out many features that we would otherwise have missed. From the outside, the modern west end does not appear to sit well with the rest of the church; inside it works beautifully with an impressive lantern... More

Well maintenance cathedral with lots of history. The stained windows are very impressive. A little disappointed that the cafe & shop where closed when we visited in between Christmas & the New Year but then it is manned by volunteers

While not quite the Cathedral in Barcelona, this is a lovely place with a mix of old and new architecture.
