Miserable staff, mediocre food, charging to get in!?
This used to be an amazing farm shop fully supported by the community selling amazing produce. Whilst there you could spend 30 mins looking at the animals with the kids. Now they charge! Really!?
Seems greed and commercialism have taken over. Such a shame.

Had heard about Lockey Farm but never visited. Was aware there is now an entrance fee but was not off put by this. A small business can't run on donations alone! Especially when many people probably don't bother donating!!
I visited with my son (5), my niece and her 21 month old son. Very warm and friendly welcome from the man when we paid. Entrance fee includes animal feed, crazy golf, use of all the play facilities and a free tea or coffee per adult. We took a picnic to keep costs down, but purchased delicious cake from the cafe.
Plenty to do to keep the children occupied for several hours. Our trip was only cut short due to the inclement UK weather! We fed the animals, rode the go karts, played crazy gold (refundable deposit for clubs, £1 a club which was fine as it was explained some customers don't bother returning the clubs) went in the sand pit, played on the bouncy pillows and briefly played on the log trail/ zip wire. Didn't get chance to go on the play frame due to the rain. I don't think the entrance fee is extortionate. We were there for a good few hours and could have stayed longer. I felt the kids were very safe there and as its quite small, were always in eye sight.
I didn't eat in the cafe so cannot comment on that or use the farm shop.
My only constructive criticism would be that maybe they could give you a token to redeem for the free hot drink at any time during your visit. I didn't want mine as soon as I arrived. To be fair neither did my niece, so she just asked for hers later but I would imagine this would be tricky to monitor if they were busy. Also, we used the outside toilet 'building'. They weren't overly clean and could definitely do with a face lift but they were usable. I assume there are nicer toilets in the cafe area. Crazy golf was perfectly functional but again, could benefit from a lick of paint.
All in all, we had a lovely visit and will definitely visit again.

Took our toddler for the afternoon. A disgruntled old lady who worked on the farm rudely complained as soon as we drove through an open gate that we shouldn't park there. So why leave the gate open. No signs to say no parking. Strange.

Went through to the shop which was basic. Waited in a queue to pay the £5 each fee. We waited & waited but there weren't any staff about. The queue got longer but no staff to take people's money. Other groups decided that waiting for 10 minutes+ was long enough & went through.

There were a few animals but had expected more. There was a playground, inflatable pillows, a mini golf which was tatty & kids ride on tractors. Included in the entry fee was a 'free tea or coffee' but nothing for the children. Disappointing. We think £5 each is too high to pay based on the facilities on offer. This place used to be free entry a few months ago!

Had a latte in the cafe which was just white coffee. The cafe was grubby, sticky table & food on the floor. This place needs to up its game before we consider returning.

Only £7, for two grandparents and a two year old.
Excellent value.
Bouncy pillows safer than a bouncy castle.
Go carts are brilliant.
Good food freshly cooked at reasonable price.
Good baby change and toilets.
Animals very friendly

I agree that it is expensive for teenagers but so is anywhere else. There appear to be some reviewers on this site who want something for nothing. Get real.

Our trip cost less than parking a car in town.

On another note a " toddler " climbing frame and slide would have been good for us. The big one was too high for our grandson.

Children enjoy very much of this place, has great value for farm animals, offers free coffee, and a little organic shop inside. Perfect!

This place is really good but I think £5 person is too bad expensive. There are not many animals to see in my opinion.

We just visited, expecting to have lunch with the grandchildren and a play on the park followed by visiting the animals and a pop into the shop.

The park and farm was going to cost us £25 for 3 adults and 2 children! We thought we'd give it a miss and just have lunch. The children's sandwiches were made with dry bread, adults baguettes were equally stale and so were the crisps. No-one finished their food. So disappointing. We used to be regulars but don't want to go back now. It's also a long way to go now just for meat and cheese.

I couldn't see any justification for the high prices, especially with a 2 and 4 year old.

My husband and I took my 16 month old son here one afternoon for a little toddle around to see the animals one Sunday afternoon after he'd woken from his nap.

Having visited before, I chose to do so again due to the little time we had and the fact that it's a short car ride away. I was astounded to find that they're now charging £5 per person entry! I appreciate that they've now installed a couple of bouncy things (for older kids), but the place is small and that was part of it's charm. There is not enough there to warrant such a high entrance fee.

I asked if we had still to pay, as when we arrived we only had 40 minutes before the place closed. I was offered a discounted price of £4 per person (hardly a discount given we had less than an hour!).

The entrance fee includes a tea/coffee for adults and a bag of animal feed (we don't want a hot drink walking around with a toddler and would've been happy to pay for the feed anyway).

Before I would've gone there to let my son have a toddle around, see the animals and would've bought something from the farm shop and/or cafe (which is the whole point of increasing footfall). Now I'm less likely to go there at all because of the high entrance fee. A bit shortsighted if you ask me....

If you really want to make the place a success, reduce the price to £3 an adult, and £1 for children under 3. That's much more reasonable and you will get additional revenue from the cafe and farm shop. It just feels very greedy...

If you're going to keep investing into the place, you should also install a hand washing station near the animals. At the moment you have to walk across to the other side and use the basins in the portaloos.

Ps - you also need to update your website to indicate the fee.

We visited on Monday with our grandson as we have done many times before . We usually let him play for a while see the pugs and then gave a meal but today we were met with a £17.50 charge and then the cost of the meal . I realise that these places cost money to run but that it a very high price - so we went across the road to the local swing park and then on to the nearby garden centre for lunch ! What a shame ! I'm sure we won't be the only people to do thus !

I visited today with my 2 year old little girl, and we both loved it. I have never been to Lockey Farm before, but i will be coming back for sure. Lovely play area for the kids, both younger and older are catered for. Lovely food, and great farm shop. I certainly dont mind paying 5 pounds for entry fee, i also got free coffee.
