A nice little tour by a young man in role as Rowland Jencks, a felon from 1577 convicted of having a"foul and saucy mouth" (or something like that). I found it a decent way to spend an hour or so mostly indoors on a less...More

I found this an interesting guided tour with examples of the use of the castle as a prison from different periods over the centuries. Rowland Jencks, our guide was informative and entertaining. I never did see his ears. I wonder what's under that cap?

When we saw the castle, we said we must see what is inside. In fact, the castle alone is interesting, old and with creepy history. But without funny guide, the castle is just empty. A couple of rooms have something like refurbished history furniture to...More

I stumbled across this attraction whilst doing a treasure hunt activity and hadn't heard about it beforehand so didn't know what to expect. Whilst there isn't much left of the castle itself, the tour guide gives you just the right amount of information to make...More

For your kid it should not be a bad place, but there are a few places like the basement or the cell, which are small and stuffy and may feel claustrophobic and/or a bit spooky. Overall if your kid/s likes new places and... More
