Oxford Castle Unlocked explores the 1000-years of Oxford's History. Led by one of our costumed characters, the rich history of the castle with a prison at its heart will be revealed to you. Climb St. George's Tower and take in the stunning views before descending into the atmospheric crypt, along the 18th century prison wing and into archaic man-made mound.

Nowhere near as many tourists make it to the castle as they do to the 'Harry Potter filming locations', which is very sad. I love the castle! I've been there at least 5 times with visitors and can highly recommend it!!! It is full of...More

The guided tour was well done, striking the right balance between corny costuming and informative tour. We were guided by Empress Matilda, who was able to teach us a lot which we didn’t know about Oxford.

Visited for a works do. Excellent idea. Lots of fun was had by all. Very cold though! Food was tasty. White wine was not that great.

Took my 7 year old grandson here and we really enjoyed it. Queen Matilda was a wonderful guide and we both learnt a lot. Pitched really well if your child is interested in history. A good thing on a wet afternoon if a bit pricey.More

There were about three children under 5 on the tour I went on and the guide made it entertaining for them, so I'm sure your children will enjoy it!

The guides are all dressed as the personalities of the time. I don't recall mannequins
