A charming college

Beautiful chapel. Lovely old dining hall. Nice sun dial. A small but beautiful quad. Great photo opportunities.

It's beautiful, and has the best porters in my opinion! There are little corners with gems of plantings and places to sit. The library is in a deconsecrated (but beautiful) church, and the combination of crumbling golden stone, quiet study and cheerful lack of pretension make it a good college to visit as well as study at.

Such a beautiful, peaceful quad away from the hurly-burly of the main street. It has been newly renovated recently, which my husband wanted to see as we were in the area. The Porter is also so friendly and welcoming.

Front quad is a stunner. Actually a very historic college - alumni include Dudley Paycock (inventor of the trouser press) and Ken Dodd. I stayed for the Annual Conference of Naturalist Ergonomics - we were treated royally. The college library was probably the most peaceful place to practise our skills. All in all, a wonderful oasis in the throbbing city.

Very pretty quad for a college that boasts itself as the oldest educational establishment in Oxford. Not the oldest college as became part of Oxford University in 1957. If you can arrange to see them, the library, old dining room, and chapel are well worth seeing. I admit that I am biased as I studied there from 1967-1970. Great times.

I'm a bit biased as this was my college when I was at Oxford Uni years ago, but finding myself in Oxford for a few days looking for somewhere to stay, I thought I'd try out the college accommodation. The booking process was really straightforward, the room really clean and nicely furnished with lovely en-suite. We'd booked the last weekend... More

Charming, historic college, atmospheric ambiance, the epitome of an Oxford College. Entrance hidden off Queens Lane, opens into quad (paving currently under reconstruction). Ancient church, used as Library, in grounds. Well worth a visit.

I had a unique dining experience in dining at St. Edmund Hall at Oxford University. The opportunity arose because the conference I was attending chose to hold the conference banquet at this venue. The dinner was a five course affair, and while the vegetarian option that I went for didn't compare too well with the non-vegetarian options, it was an... More

This small college has charm that the grander colleges lack. The chapel, formerly a saxon church, is now a library. Very much part of the Queen's Lane walking experience.

St Edmund Hall is is part very beautiful and in part spoilt and modern. The Hall is older than the colleges as a place of learning as the Bishops taught here before the colleges were founded. Students lived, learned and slept in the Hall. The buildings in the front quadrangle are medieval and worth seeing.
